Job summary

Charter Manufacturing's Charter Dura-Bar unit is seeking a Production Manager to lead iron casting operations across multiple shifts, directing melting, casting, and the laboratory. You will be a leader of leaders, coaching several supervisor-level teams toward safe, high-quality production.

You will drive continuous improvement to boost productivity, reduce costs and downtime, and ensure compliance with ISO/Quality standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering or related field).
• 7+ years in a heavy manufacturing environment with supervisory/leadership experience.
• Proven ability in planning, delegation, problem solving, and decision making.
• Experience with cost reduction through process improvements and CI methods.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

The Production Manager position is a key part of our operations and critical to the success of our company. In this strategic role, you’ll manage all of our iron casting operations across multiple shifts, providing oversight over our melting, casting, and laboratory departments.

You’ll be a leader of leaders, with several supervisor-level direct reports to coach and influence as they lead their respective teams towards our shared goal of producing a high-quality product in a safe and efficient manner.

You’ll also leverage your continuous improvement mindset to optimize productivity and quality while reducing cost, waste, and downtime.

Our location in small town Woodstock, Illinois, is a commutable distance from the Chicago suburbs and surrounding communities, including southern parts of Wisconsin, offering anything from rural to urban living. Company-paid relocation assistance is available.

What you’ll need to bring:

• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical discipline, such as engineering or related field
• 7+ years of experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
• 3+ years of experience supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
• Demonstrated abilities in planning, delegation, communications, problem solving, and decision making
• Demonstrated experience in cost reduction through process improvements, Continuous Improvement techniques, and project management
• Proficiency in computer skills, including the Microsoft Office Suite

What will set you apart from other candidates:

• Certification in Lean, Six Sigma, or other Continuous Improvement activity
• Experience working with iron or other metals
• Maintenance experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
• Experience in an organization with ISO/Quality System Requirements

The annual hiring range for this position is: $111,500-$139,400. The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will depend on various factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, experience, and qualifications. Compensation decisions are tailored to the unique circumstances of each position and candidate.
