Job summary

Balchem Corporation is seeking a Production Manager to lead the production department, ensuring safety, quality, and efficient day-to-day operations. You will manage the production schedule, enforce SOPs, GMPs, regulatory requirements, and act as a key decision-maker and back-up to the Plant Manager.

The role requires at least a bachelor’s degree and 5+ years in manufacturing leadership, with Lean and 5S experience. Collaboration with R&D on scale-up and supporting customer trials is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 5 years in plant operations.
• Proven direct leadership experience with at least 5 years supervising in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience and knowledge using Lean Manufacturing concepts and 5S organizational tools.

Position Summary
The Production Manager is responsible for leading the production department including safety, quality, and efficient day-to-day operations. He/she shall manage the production schedule, and compliance with Standard Operating Procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices, Regulatory Laws, and Corporate specifications, policies, and procedures. A general knowledge and understanding of the encapsulation production processes and excellent communication skills are essential to the successful fulfillment of the position requirements. This position is required to function as coach and counselor as well as a key decision maker. In addition to operations support, the production manager will act as the back-up to the Plant Manager.

Essential Functions

• Manage the safety of the department including compliance with regulations and company policies/procedures and training completion; nurture and coach growth of our employee engaged culture. PSM experience is a plus
• Responsible for achieving established key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety, quality, and productivity
• Assure that Production team members are trained, coached and developed in support of individual career development paths and company growth plans
• Manage and develop our culture of collaboration and accountability
• Drive, initiate, and support continuous improvement and elimination of waste and variation in processes using established improvement processes
• Collaborate with R&D during production scale-up efforts, production validation, and customer trials; when ran at the plant, the Production Manager is responsible to lead these production runs
• When deviations are identified in our process, investigate until root cause is identified and take corrective action
• Document and monitor procedures and processes to attain standard work, eliminate variation and promote sharing of knowledge
• Support off-hours plant operations as needed
• Conduct periodic informal & annual formal employee evaluations.
• Performs other duties as needed

Requirements

• At least a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with at least 5 years of experience in plant operations
• Proven direct leadership experience with at least 5 years of supervising in a manufacturing environment, developing and coaching others.
• Experience and knowledge using Lean Manufacturing concepts and 5S organizational tools.

The expected salary range for this position is $95,000-$110,000 per year.
