Job summary

Polycorp is seeking a Production Manager to provide direction to manufacturing teams producing products that meet customer requirements while adhering to ISO 9001 and Polycorp policies. This role will drive aggressive targets for cost, safety, schedules, quality, and customer satisfaction across a multi-shift operation.

You will champion TPM, lead continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure applicable regulatory and corporate standards are met in a complex make-to-order environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in engineering, operations, business, or social science disciplines.
• 8+ years of management experience in complex manufacturing environments.
• Working knowledge of ISO9001, lean manufacturing, JIT, SPC, TPM, team-based environments and continuous improvement.
• Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to ensure safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met daily.
• Lead corrective actions to resolve non-conformance issues and achieve objectives.
• Achieve schedule completion aligned with customer demands and collaborate with support elements to improve results.
• Champion TPM and continuous improvement across the operation.
• Spend time on shop floor and adapt schedules to a 7-day, 24-hour operation.
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, EPA, OSHA, CAL OSHA and Polycorp policies.

Job description

The Production Manager will provide overall direction to manufacturing teams producing products that meet or exceed customer requirements while adhering to corporate policies and cultural tenants. This individual will establish and achieve aggressive targets for cost management, safety, schedules, employee relations, customer satisfaction, quality systems deployment, and other directives on a multi-shift basis, in a complex operational environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Leads and manages operation members who are charged with ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives are met on daily basis to implement effective operator control systems and to comply with International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 9001 standards. Primary focus is fulfillment of customer orders on-time, complete, and error-free shipments.
• Provides leadership and initiates corrective action to resolve non-conformance issues to achieve established objectives.
• Achieves schedule completion consistent with customer demands and expectations. Participates, with peers, key support elements of operations (staffing, equipment, tooling, technical services, and others) to improve overall business results.
• Understands customer satisfaction requirements and plant or product deficiencies; initiates activities to improve plant staff and support departments.
• Provides leadership to ensure effective training on methods, equipment, processes, quality standards, safety, material resource planning, communication, and teamwork.
• Provides member work environment that meets all safety needs. Champions and works with various teams to achieve member security consistent with Polycorp policies, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and CAL OSHA standards, and ISO 9001.
• Implements improvements to planning, methods, products, processes, and work habits to increase efficiency and productivity, resulting in cost savings consistent with business plans.
• Serves as visible role model for members. Demonstrates, on daily basis, excellence in leadership, and consistency in actions to support Polycorp principles.
• Promotes and leads Total Process Management (TPM) process to improve overall effectiveness of operation.
• Provides team and member goals, direction, training, support, feedback, and recognition to improve both team and member performance.
• Assists with training effort to change and improve culture in manufacturing to support engaged members and team-based problem solving.
• Spends significant time on shop floor; flexes schedule and effectively interacts with members across 7-day 24 hours operation; presents pertinent information to members. Climbs above floor level and around or over equipment, walks on screen guards, and works in other awkward areas of manufacturing environment.
• Champions, supports, and facilitates change initiatives through training, hiring, and directing members to ensure Corporate values and best practices are applied.
• Embraces diversity in complex, make-to-order environment.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Ensure the requirements of ISO 9001 and Polycorp's QMS are conformed with.
• All other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in the rubber industry a plus.
• Computer literacy; Microsoft Office, Materials Requirements Planning (MRP), ERP software Programs (Example Syspro).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Education, Experience, Certificates/Licenses)

• Bachelors degree, or equivalent job-specific work experience. Preferred areas of study include engineering, operations, business, or social science disciplines.
• 8+ years management experience in complex and demanding manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of quality, manufacturing planning, inventory control, and engineering documentation systems.
• Working knowledge of ISO9001 certified quality control systems, lean manufacturing principles, Just in Time (JIT), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Total Process Management (TPM), team-based environments and continuous improvement.
• Proven leader in successfully managing teams of people, projects, resources, and complexity, achieving superior results.
• Must be bilingual (Enlgish/Spanish)

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

The role primarily operates in a warehouse environment with occasional office interaction. The position requires:

• Regular use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing systems
• Occasional periods of sitting, typing, analyzing and reviewing documents and spreadsheets
• Warehouse Environment:
  • Regular/most of the day visits to warehouse and production areas
  • Exposure to varying temperatures (heat included), noise levels, dust, chemicals and moving equipment
  • Ability to walk, stand, and navigate warehouse aisles safely
• Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Frequent sitting and computer work for extended periods
  • Ability to wear PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes)
