Job summary

Edge AI Solutions is seeking a hands-on leader to oversee our production team and daily manufacturing operations at our Homestead, PA site. You will actively participate in assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and continuous production improvements while guiding technicians.

This working leadership role requires strong technical judgment, an eye for quality, and the ability to lead by example in a rugged, safety-conscious environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with electronics assembly and testing.
• Soldering, crimping, connectorization, wiring harnesses and small electronics.
• Familiarity with sensors, cameras, PCB assemblies and ESD-safe handling.
• Experience using test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters and oscilloscopes.
• Comfortable running software-based test procedures and interpreting results.
• Component-level electronics troubleshooting and repair.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor production technicians while maintaining a productive, positive work environment.
• Manage day-to-day production activities, schedules, priorities, and staffing.
• Build, test, troubleshoot, and repair products alongside the team.
• Ensure products meet quality, safety, and performance standards.
• Diagnose manufacturing issues and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate with engineering on production feedback, tooling, and process improvements.
• Track production progress, work orders, and equipment using digital tools.
• Track and monitor inventory levels, material availability, and equipment status to support production schedules and prevent shortages.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and efficient production floor.
• Conduct daily team meetings and remove operational blockers.

About the Role

Edge AI is looking for a hands-on leader to oversee our production team and daily manufacturing operations. Our products are rugged electromechanical robotic systems that combine wiring harnesses, electronics, sensors, cameras, and fiber-optic systems designed to operate in harsh environments.

This is a working leadership role. You will spend time both managing the team and contributing directly to assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and production improvements. Success requires strong technical judgment, attention to quality, and the ability to lead by example.

You should be comfortable evaluating workmanship, troubleshooting production issues, using computer-based test procedures, and collaborating with engineering to improve tools, processes, and product quality.

Technical Experience

• Hands-on experience with electronics assembly and testing.
• Experience with soldering, crimping, connectorization, wiring harnesses, and small electronics.
• Familiarity with sensors, cameras, PCB assemblies, and ESD-safe handling practices.
• Experience using test equipment such as power supplies, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
• Comfortable running software-based test procedures and interpreting test results.
• Component-level electronics troubleshooting and repair.

Leadership

• Proven ability to lead technicians and production teams.
• Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to balance hands-on technical work with team leadership responsibilities.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technical training or degrees in electronics, electrical, robotics, or related disciplines are preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Fiber-optic assembly, inspection, or repair experience.
• Basic scripting experience (Python, Shell, etc.).
• Prior production, manufacturing, or technician leadership experience.
• Experience with robotics, industrial equipment, instrumentation, or field-deployed systems.
