Job summary

Empire Packing, located in Olympia, WA, seeks a Quality Assurance Sanitation Supervisor to lead sanitation and QA programs on the production floor. You will ensure compliance with safety, GMP, and quality standards while guiding a team to meet performance targets.

Key responsibilities include developing procedures, coordinating with Plant Management to set goals, and driving continuous improvement across departments. Strong leadership and English proficiency are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or 3–5 years of operational management in manufacturing.
  • Safety, SQF, GMP, and HACCP training/certifications required.
  • Experience budgeting/expense management and basic finance concepts.
  • Ability to analyze data in spreadsheets and trends with MS Office.

  • Ensure procedures support company-wide strategic objectives.
  • Supervise production staff; train and mentor to improve performance.

Job Title

Quality Assurance Sanitation Supervisor

Department

Reports to

Plant Manager

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement effective production, department planning, policies, and procedures.
    • Coordinates with Plant Management to develop goals and objectives.
    • Participates in developing and implementing department procedures and ensures that they support Companywide strategic objectives.
    • Exhibits expert knowledge for all positions on production floor.
    • Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed.
  2. Assumes responsibility for the efficient, timely, and accurate completion of Production functions.
    • Identifies problems and resolves them quickly and effectively.
    • Completes related reports and records as assigned.
    • Ensures that production functions are completed in accordance with established production, safety, and quality standards.
    • Track operational output (i.e. efficiency, yield loss, product quality, inventory accuracy, transactional accuracy), anticipating and correcting trends which would compromise achievement of financial targets.
    • Flex production plans on a shift by shift basis to prevent service issues and operational inefficiencies.
  3. Effectively supervises assigned personnel, ensuring optimal performance.
    • Trains and advises employees on current daily needs and production methods. Leads personnel to improve performance and productivity.
    • Manage the personnel schedule and assess staffing needs.
    • Provides leadership through goal setting, delegation, and communication.
    • Assists with personnel decisions including performance appraisals, hiring, terminations, wage decisions and promotions.
    • Exhibits Empire’s culture of respect for all employees, motivate, correct, and challenge personnel with a positive approach.
  4. Maintain effective communication, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and management.
    • Communicate cross-functionally to solve operational issues.
    • Drive business changes while minimizing people impact.
    • Maintains an open dialogue with assigned team and Plant Manager.
  5. Compliance
    • Ensure team compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
    • Maintain product quality and sanitation standards.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts and procedures.
  6. May assume other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field or 3 – 5 years of operational management experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Safety, SQF, GMP, and HACCP training/certifications
  • Previous experience understanding of budgeting/expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices.
  • Ability to prepare spreadsheets and use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point and/or Access) to analyze data and trends.
  • Experience using continuous improvement tools to drive improvement.
  • Experience enforcing of safety rules and policies.
  • Ability to lead a team-based approach to decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a results-oriented, challenging environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write English
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred

The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage begin after 60 days of employment.

  • 401(K): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule.
  • Wage Scale $80,168.40-$93,000
