Job summary

Catalent’s Greendale, Indiana site is seeking a Production Manager to drive safe, compliant, and reliable confectionery and packaging operations. You will ensure schedules are met, lead through clear communication, and develop supervisors while promoting continuous improvement in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities include leading daily production, managing downtime, analyzing performance data, and coordinating with Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 5+ years of experience in confectionery, food, pharmaceutical, or consumer goods packaging.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, plan work effectively, and deliver results within established timelines.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to build trust, establish clear expectations, develop talent, and hold teams accountable.
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement systems preferred.

  • Ensure production records and supporting documentation are complete, accurate, compliant, and reviewed before submission.

About Site

Catalent’s Greendale, Indiana site is a key part of the company’s Wellness business, serving as one of North America’s primary gummy development and manufacturing centers. The site specializes in the formulation and production of traditional gelatin gummies and 100% plant‑based pectin gummies for nutritional supplements and nutraceutical applications, supporting a wide range of consumer health products. With strong in‑house R&D, quality laboratories, and flexible manufacturing and packaging capabilities, the Greendale operation partners closely with customers to develop innovative, high‑quality, and consumer‑friendly gummy delivery formats across a variety of flavors, shapes, and functional ingredients, all produced under rigorous quality and food‑safety standards.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Production Manager to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for achieving safe, compliant, and reliable production results across Packaging and Mogul operations. You will ensure that production schedules are executed on time and in full while meeting Catalent’s standards for safety, quality, sanitation, documentation, cost control, and environmental compliance. You will lead through clear communication, disciplined execution, and visible ownership, developing supervisors and production colleagues while promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.

Shift: 4pm-2:30am M-F with Fridays being flexible
Location: Greendale, IN
100% Onsite

The Role

  • Review, analyze, and communicate daily production performance; complete required reports, gap analyses, and continuous improvement actions accurately and on time.
  • Support the development and execution of facility financial and non-financial objectives, including annual budgets, forecasts, operating plans, and productivity commitments.
  • Use accurate and timely data to monitor, interpret, and report safety, quality, delivery, cost, and operational performance.
  • Ensure production records and supporting documentation are complete, accurate, compliant, and reviewed before submission.
  • Ensure cleaning and sanitation activities are completed and documented in accordance with approved procedures and applicable requirements.
  • Schedule, train, coach, and mentor team members to strengthen capability, improve performance, and maximize operational efficiency.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing and provide clear direction, timely feedback, recognition, and corrective action when required.
  • Ensure end‑of‑shift shutdown activities, checklists, handoffs, and records are completed accurately and maintained.
  • Drive issues to root cause, implement sustainable corrective actions, and reinforce a zero‑loss mindset.
  • Develop supervisors through clear expectations, coaching, delegation, and accountability to support continued growth and succession readiness.
  • Partner proactively with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, Warehouse, Sanitation, Planning, and other functions to resolve constraints and maintain operational alignment.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, compliance, inclusion, and continuous improvement by consistently modeling Catalent values and expected leadership behaviors.

The Candidate
Minimum Requirements
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • 5+ years of experience in the confectionary, food, pharmaceutical, or consumer goods packaging industry.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, plan work effectively, and deliver results within established timelines.
  • Strong leadership capability with the ability to build trust, establish clear expectations, develop talent, and hold teams accountable.
  • Effective written, verbal, presentation, listening, and facilitation skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to lead change, foster innovation, and convert improvement opportunities into sustainable results.
  • Strong follow-through, sound judgment, and the ability to develop practical solutions in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, process operations, troubleshooting, and production controls.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy, product quality, employee safety, and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in using operational data and performance indicators to identify trends, prioritize actions, and improve results.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent‑sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
  • This position requires the ability to frequently reach, grasp, lift, carry, or otherwise handle objects weighing up to 50 pounds. The colleague must also possess the dexterity required to manipulate components, products, and controls and be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, or kneel as needed to perform assigned responsibilities safely. Required personal protective equipment must be worn in all designated operations and warehouse areas. PPE may include slip‑resistant protective footwear, safety eyewear, hearing protection, reflective vests, gloves, smocks, and other site‑required protection. While performing this role, the colleague may routinely work near or be exposed to bright lighting, elevated noise levels, hot or cold temperatures, moving equipment, powered industrial vehicles, cleaning materials, and other normal manufacturing conditions. All work must be performed in accordance with site safety procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
