Job summary

Pilkington North America in Shelbyville, IN seeks a Production Manager to direct all fabrication activities for the facility. You will lead a team, optimize material flow, and ensure safety, quality, and cost targets are met while coordinating with customers and contractor sites.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 3 years of people management in manufacturing, with experience in outsourced relationships preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience managing outsourced or contract manufacturing relationships, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead, plan, and execute all fabrication operations.
• Develop and monitor fabrication KPIs.
• Ensure employee safety through training and compliance with regulations.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards in fabrication areas.
• Ensure products meet internal and external quality specifications.
• Train production staff in standardized processes and job expectations.
• Meet throughput, downtime, yield and scrap targets within budget.
• Communicate effectively across all levels to address issues.
• Provide guidance and recognition on performance and attendance.
• Address issues promptly to maintain constructive relationships.
• Lead problem-solving using the Pilkington 8-step model.
• Promote environmental guideline compliance.
• Monitor glass flow, demand, and shipments between Shelbyville and contractors; escalate risks.
• Hold contractors accountable to quality, safety, and process standards.

Job description

The Production Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating all production employee activities related to producing the highest quality product delivered at the lowest possible cost. This role leads all Fabrication activity within the Shelbyville plant and manages all interactions involving Pilkington North America. Responsibilities include overseeing material flow, escalating issues, monitoring performance, and ensuring effective communication between Shelbyville (the supplying facility) and customers.

• Essential Functions: Lead, plan, and execute all AA operations.
• Develop, track, and maintain Fabrication performance metrics (KPIs).
• Ensure the safety of all assigned employees through proper training and strict adherence to federal, state, and company safety regulations
• Maintain the highest housekeeping standards throughout the Fabrication area.
• Ensure product quality meets or exceeds all internal and external customer specifications.
• Ensure all production employees are trained in workforce standardization processes and fully understand job expectations.
• Ensure all production standards and targets for throughput, downtime, yield and scrap reduction meet or exceed budgeted levels.
• Communicate effectively with employees at all levels to ensure matters of mutual concern are addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
• Provide appropriate guidance, counseling, or recognition on matters related to job performance and absenteeism.
• Maintain constructive and candid relationships by addressing issues in a timely manner.
• Direct and coordinate problem solving activities utilizing the Pilkington 8 step problem solving model.
• Promote awareness and compliance with facility environmental guidelines.
• Monitor glass flow, finished goods demand, and shipment accuracy between Shelbyville and contractor sites, escalating risks or shortages as needed.
• Hold contractors accountable for adherence to quality, safety, and Fabrication process standards while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
• Adherence to NSG/Pilkington Standards of Business Conduct and its Values and Principles
• Other duties as assigned by manager

Scope/Dimensions:

• Directly manages a team of 3 salaried team members
• Indirectly manages a team of 250 salaried and hourly team members
• Liaison to external plant customers to ensure that NSG is meeting their production expectations
