Lead shop performance and protect product quality
You keep skilled people working on the right jobs, with reliable equipment and the resources to work efficiently. You turn job requirements into practical production plans and insist on quality at every handoff.
Envirosafe manufactures above-ground fuel storage and dispensing systems in Bushnell, Florida. Our Production Manager leads daily shop operations, develops the team, and keeps production equipment reliable.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will oversee approximately 25–30 employees through established department leads in fabrication, paint and blast, maintenance, and QC. Your scope includes welders, fabricators, painters, blasters, maintenance technicians, QC personnel, and shop detailing and cleanup crews.
You will have independent authority to hire, discipline, and terminate shop employees and will develop existing department leads. Protecting Envirosafe’s reputation through consistent product quality is your first priority, alongside reliable equipment and disciplined production.
Execute work orders against the labor-hour budgets and bills of materials established by Engineering during quoting and verified before order acceptance. Build daily and weekly plans across fabrication, welding, blasting, painting, and final detailing to complete each job below its approved labor-hour budget.
Keep the right people at the right stations with the tools, materials, and training needed to perform each task efficiently. Resolve bottlenecks between departments and communicate realistic completion dates and recovery plans.
Require quality checks at every station handoff. No product advances until it meets established quality standards. Work with QC and department leads to verify drawings, weld requirements, and workmanship and correct defects before work moves downstream.
Keep at least 90% of paid shop-staff time directed toward value-added work-order projects. Track actual labor hours against job budgets, address lost productive time, and coach employees and department leads to improve execution.
Bring practical technical literacy across three-phase electrical systems, including 480V equipment; industrial pneumatics and hydraulics; large air compressors; CNC plasma tables; and welding equipment and associated power systems.
Evaluate maintenance diagnoses and repair plans. Ask for supporting observations and test results, assess realistic repair timelines, and verify that completed work corrects the underlying problem.
Keep equipment online and operating as intended through preventive maintenance, prompt repairs, and correction of recurring failures. Coordinate maintenance with production needs and determine when qualified outside specialists are required.
Evaluate the practical skills of prospective welders, fabricators, and maintenance technicians through structured, job-relevant assessments.
You must be technically capable enough to direct and evaluate maintenance work. Electrical testing and repair must be assigned to appropriately qualified personnel; the role requires knowing the limits of your own qualifications and those of your team.
Enforce applicable OSHA requirements, PPE use, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe equipment operation consistently.
Oversee ventilation, dust and fume controls, blasting-media handling, and paint-booth practices, including appropriate handling of coatings and related waste.
Maintain an orderly shop, address hazards promptly, and support employees who raise safety or equipment concerns. Plan work so production demands do not compromise safe execution.
Demonstrated leadership of a fabrication or comparable manufacturing operation, with responsibility for people, job scheduling, quality, equipment readiness, and labor-hour performance.
Practical fabrication knowledge and the ability to evaluate drawings, workmanship, and the sequence of operations.
Experience supervising industrial maintenance and evaluating troubleshooting decisions, repair estimates, and equipment downtime.
The ability to develop department leads, coordinate multiple trades, and exercise hiring, disciplinary, and termination authority fairly and consistently.
Clear communication and the discipline to maintain usable production plans, maintenance records, and follow-up actions.
Welding experience is preferred. Candidates without welding experience must bring a substantial, proven record leading comparable low-volume, high-mix manufacturing of high-value products, supported by specific operating results.
Quality is verified before every station handoff. At least 90% of paid staff time supports value-added work-order projects, and each job finishes below its Engineering-approved labor-hour budget. Equipment operates reliably, and employees have the skills and resources to complete their work safely and efficiently.
This position requires a regular presence on the manufacturing floor, including standing and walking through work areas, inspecting work in process, and working around industrial equipment, noise, welding, blasting, and coating operations. Required PPE and site safety procedures apply. Essential job functions may be performed with reasonable accommodation.
