Job description

At Sterling Technology Bioactive Solutions, a division of Glanbia DairyNutrition, our portfolio centers on dairy nutritional ingredients. We co-innovate and deliver bioactive ingredient solutions for the mainstream food and beverage, infant and clinical, as well as functional nutrition markets.

We are seeking a Production Manager to direct and coordinate activities of Colostrum production areas in processing raw materials and manufacturing customer specific products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

  • Reviews production orders or schedules to ascertain product data such as types, quantities, and specifications of products and scheduled delivery dates in order to plan department operations.
  • Plans production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for manufacturing products.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
  • Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettle grievances to the Senior Production Manager or Plant Manager for action.
  • Fill in on floor if needed to ensure production timelines and KPI’s are achieved.
  • Utilizes GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.
  • Each employee shall comply with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, and orders issued pursuant to the Occupational Safety and Health Act which are applicable to his/her own actions and conduct.
  • Complies with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates.

What you’ll Bring to the Team

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or a minimum of five years of relevant experience/training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret business publications, professional journals, technical documentation, and regulatory materials.
  • Effective communication skills for presenting information and responding to inquiries from managers, clients, customers, and public audiences.
  • Familiarity with Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills to define problems, collect and evaluate data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Capable of prioritizing tasks, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and delegating responsibilities as needed.
  • Adherence to all safety policies and procedures; proactive in reporting unsafe conditions to supervisors or Human Resources.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to team goals and departmental objectives.
  • Demonstrates leadership through knowledge sharing and setting a positive example.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, works with the fingers, and perceives attributes of objects and materials.
  • Involves moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily product/technical nature.
  • Should be able to identify and distinguish colors, see clearly at 20 inches or closer and 20 feet or more, observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point, judge distances and spatial relationships, and adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.

Typical Environmental Conditions

  • May be exposed to loud noise levels (i.e. manufacturing equipment).
  • May be exposed to humidity, intense heat, and fumes and toxic chemicals.
  • May work in areas with mechanical moving parts, above ground with risk of fall, or areas with risk of electrical shock.
