Job summary

MCC is seeking a Production Manager for its Algoma facility to lead site production operations, drive safety, quality, delivery and cost efficiency, and develop teams to meet corporate objectives. You will deploy Lean practices, analyze production data, and coordinate staffing to optimize performance while upholding company policies.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on leader with continuous improvement mindset and integrity.
  • Degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology or Business or equivalent.
  • Significant Lean principles experience in manufacturing operations.
  • Structured problem-solving to identify root causes and countermeasures.
  • Excellent communication skills and advanced Excel skills.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets.
  • Implement quality control plans and drive variation reduction.
  • Assess on-time delivery and implement improvements for high performance.
  • Determine staffing requirements and redeploy resources as needed.
  • Analyze production reports to identify root causes and take corrective actions.
  • Apply Lean principles to improve productivity and reduce waste.
  • Lead cost-reduction initiatives and capital project recommendations.
  • Facilitate daily Gemba walks and use SQDC tools for performance clarity.

The Production Manager is responsible for overall site production operations. Creates a work environment which promotes safety, quality, delivery, and cost-effectiveness. Effectively develops teams that can achieve corporate improvement objectives. Accountable for all aspects of plant production performance while ensuring objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner. Drives best practices through the organization and leads processimprovement.

Responsibilities:
  • Directly,andthroughdelegation,coordinatesactivitiesrequiredtoassuresafety,quality,delivery,and cost meet specified targets.

  • Reviewsandanalyzesproductionreportstodeterminerootcausesofvariancefrombudget,anddevelops and executes corrective actions, using structured root cause analysis, MDI and Policy Deploymentmethodologies.
  • UsingLeanprinciples,formteamsandinvolvepeopletoimproveproductivity,decreaseleadtimes, reduce waste and attain customer quality requirements.
  • Reviewsandanalyzesproductionreportstodeterminerootcausesofvariancefrombudgetanddevelops and executes corrective actions.
  • RecommendandinitiatecostreductionprogramscenteredaroundcapitalimprovementswhereROIand pay back criteria are favorable.
  • FacilitatestheexecutionofdailyGembawalkby assuringtheproperutilizationofhour-by-hour,SQDC boards and War Room tools.
  • InconjunctionwithHumanResourceManager,coordinatesappropriate“requiredtooperate”and “required on roles” staffing levels.
  • Directstheeffortsofplantsupervisiontoensuretheconsistentapplicationofhumanresourcepolicies, procedures, and plant rules.Assures adherence to safety accountability guidelines.
  • Coachesandmentorsteammemberstoassuretheirongoingdevelopment
  • Staysabreastofnewtrendsanddevelopmentsinmethods,techniques,equipment,tools,materials,and supplies,whichmightbeincorporatedinto theproductionprocesstoincreaseefficiencyorbetteruseof resources.Researches and recommends capital equipment purchases.
  • Participatesinspecialprojectsandperformsotherdutiesasassigned.

  • Ahands-onleaderthatisarolemodelwithhigh integrity,positiveinfluence,andstrongbusinessacumen that embraces change, possesses a continuous improvement mindset, and has a passion for exceeding customer and company expectations.
  • DegreeinEngineering,IndustrialTechnologyorBusinessorequivalent10yearsofstafflevelleadershipexperience.
  • Significantexperienceinimplementationof Leanprincipalsastheyapplytomanufacturingoperations.
  • Ability toapplystructuredproblem-solvingmethodologiestodeterminerootcauseofproblemsand provide effective countermeasures.
