Job summary

Lafayette Steel Sales of Indianapolis is seeking a skilled Maintenance Supervisor to plan, organize, and lead maintenance activities across equipment and facilities. You will ensure procedures are followed, and maintenance staff perform tasks per specifications in a team-based setting.

The role requires welding, torch operation, and strong mechanical/hydraulic/electrical aptitude, with experience reading schematics and using Microsoft Dynamics AX for transactions and records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Welding and torch operation skills are essential.
• Familiarity with mechanical, hydraulic and electrical components.
• Ability to read prints/schematics and disassemble/repair components.
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is a plus.

Responsibilities

Principal Objective of Position:

Plans, organizes, leads, and directs maintenance activities & systems to optimize equipment effectiveness and to maintain warehouse facilities. Ensure that maintenance personnel execute procedures, processes, work instructions, etc. in the manner prescribed, while operating in a team based environment.

Essential Functions:

• Coaches and leads the maintenance workforce
• Maintain all equipment and facilities necessary to perform work
• Required utilization of computer systems, databases, data entry, record maintenance, electronic purchase order creation.
• Diagnose problems, read prints or schematics, order parts and repair machinery with little supervision
• Adhere to all safety procedures
• Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather
• Must be able to work flexible hours or shifts, including evenings and weekends when required with little or no supervision
• Acts as liaison with outside contractors
• Work with wide variety of equipment
• Perform electrical, painting, and/or carpentry repairs of fixtures and equipment on company premises

QualificationsEducation and Experience Required:

• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

• Must be a competent welder and torch operator.
• Must be familiar with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.
• Able to disassemble, evaluate, repair and reassemble components back to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Ability to use computers, printers and other associated equipment
• Ability to complete transactions in Microsoft Dynamics AX (training available)

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.
