Job summary

Versova's Agricultural Systems Technician-Level 1 at Trillium Farms in Johnstown, Ohio, will maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems in our poultry production plant to meet daily production goals.

You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot and repair issues, operate forklifts and man-lifts safely, and follow SOPs, PPE, and biosecurity protocols around animals.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
• Technical training in maintenance, welding, mechanical, or electrical fields is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in industrial, commercial, or facility systems maintenance.
• Basic electrical knowledge and ability to lift 75+ pounds.
• Ability to work in extreme heat/cold and at heights up to 75 feet.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic maintenance and repair on mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including welding and fabricating parts.
• Maintain housing systems such as ventilation, water, feed, egg, and manure equipment.
• Troubleshoot and maintain conveyors, drive chains, gears, belts, pulleys, shafts, rollers, motors, and gearboxes.
• Keep tools clean and in good working condition; operate forklifts and man-lifts as needed.
• Ensure a safe, clean, organized work area; follow PPE and safety standards.
• Follow food safety and biosecurity protocols around poultry.
• Other duties as assigned by production/maintenance needs.

Job Summary

As an Agricultural Systems Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a variety of mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems at our poultry production plant. You will perform preventative and predictive maintenance to ensure equipment operates efficiently, safely, and effectively, directly supporting the achievement of daily production goals.

Essential Job Functions

• Perform basic maintenance and repair on agricultural and industrial machinery, including mechanical, electrical, and conveying systems, following manufacturer recommendations and company SOPs.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical issues, including welding, fabricating parts, basic plumbing, or replacing defective components.
• Conduct routine maintenance and checks on housing systems such as ventilation, water, feed, egg, and manure equipment.
• Troubleshoot and maintain various conveyor systems, including drive chains, gears, belts, pulleys, shafts, rollers, electric motors, and gearboxes.
• Maintain tools, ensuring they are clean and in good working condition.
• Use an all-terrain forklift and man-lifts as required for equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Ensure work area is safe, clean, and organized, with a focus on safety for oneself and coworkers.
• Adhere to safety standards, including proper use of PPE, and report unsafe conditions or safety issues to management.
• Follow compliance, food safety, and biosecurity protocols when working around animals in poultry houses.
• Other duties as assigned based on production and maintenance needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Technical Skills:
• Proficient in the maintenance and repair of mechanical, electrical, and industrial equipment, particularly in agricultural or poultry settings.
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing conveyor systems, electrical components, and mechanical parts.
• Soft Skills:
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and management.
• Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and moral character.
• Industry Knowledge:
• Basic electrical knowledge and familiarity with electrical testing devices.
• Knowledge of safety protocols, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and use of PPE.
• Tools, Software, or Systems Proficiency:
• Familiarity with using maintenance tools and equipment in a poultry or agricultural setting.
• Ability to read and follow SOPs and work instructions.

Required Qualifications

• Additional training or technical school education in maintenance, welding, mechanical, or electrical fields is a plus.
• 2+ years of experience in industrial, commercial, or facility systems maintenance.
• Basic electrical knowledge and experience with electrical testing devices.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull 75+ pounds.
• Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights (up to 75 feet).

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in poultry or agriculture industry maintenance.
• Experience with safety equipment such as harnesses, lanyards, hoists, and PPE.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by production needs.
• This position involves working in a poultry production plant, requiring work in various environmental conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
• Occasional work at heights up to 75 feet and in confined spaces.
• The role requires physical tasks such as climbing ladders, standing for long periods, and lifting heavy objects (up to 75 lbs).
