Job summary

Richelieu Foods in Wheeling, IL is seeking a dedicated packaging operator for the 2nd shift. Safely operate and monitor packaging line equipment to meet quality and productivity standards, working as part of a team in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

Starting pay is $18.00 per hour, with potential overtime and shift differentials. The role requires good communication, GMP awareness, and a willingness to learn multiple machines such as fillers, case packers, labelers and palletizers.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in food manufacturing is preferred.
  • GMP knowledge is preferred.
  • Able to work in a production environment with strong teamwork.

Responsibilities

  • Operate packaging line equipment safely to meet quality and productivity goals.
  • Work shifts and manage changeovers efficiently.
  • Provide on-the-job training to new operators and assist peers.
  • Continuously improve line performance through knowledge expansion.
  • Attend company trainings as scheduled.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

We provide products to many national retailers, wholesalers, distributors, club and mass stores, as well as industrial accounts including other food manufacturers.

Job Summary

Safely and efficiently operate equipment to which is assigned in a manner that ensure Company standards for quality are continuously met while consistently attaining goals for productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs all tasks and functions of the job in a safe manner that upholds Company standards for product quality.
  • Work all regular and overtime scheduled shifts.
  • Trained to satisfactorily operate any of the following packaging line equipment, filler, case packer, labeler, palletizer
  • Is knowledgeable of requirements of the various changeovers and takes the lead in efficiently and effectively executing them as necessary throughout the production schedule.
  • Makes every reasonable effort to avoid downtime or to shorten periods of unavoidable downtime.
  • Knowledgeable of daily line routines for set-up, start-up, and/or shut down and perform each as the need for them applies.
  • Operates equipment on rotating basis with other operators.
  • Provides varying levels of "on-the-job" training to new operator candidates as well as assisting with continuing development of peer and lesser experienced operators as need and opportunity presents.
  • Makes an ongoing effort to expand personal base of knowledge in regard to function of this position and increasingly applies this knowledge over time to continuously improve overall line performance.
  • Attends Company sponsored training and informational meetings when scheduled.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in food manufacturing is preferred.
  • Qualified experience on current plant packaging machinery is beneficial.
Essential Skills and Responsibilities
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and have a positive attitude.
  • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience working with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) preferred.
  • Experience with quality and hygiene requirements common in food manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience working in a production environment with food or other FDA regulated products preferred.
Working Conditions
  • Occasionally exposed to hazards in a manufacturing environment not limited to, physical, chemical or airborne hazards
  • Loud working environment
  • Required to stand for the duration of the production shift.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at or above shoulder level.
Pay and Benefits

The following information is provided in accordance with applicable state and local laws. Compensation is based on experience, geographic locations, and other legally permitted factors. The starting hourly rate is $18.00. This position may also be eligible for overtime pay and shift differentials.
