Job summary

Smurfit WestRock Company is seeking a Production Line Leader to oversee a production line in our Assembly and Contract Packaging plant on the second or third shift. The role requires ensuring maximum productivity, quality and adherence to SOPs.

The position involves coordinating with warehouse, maintenance, and quality assurance, managing temporary staff, and maintaining production records while upholding safety standards. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic instructions and diagrams.
  • Effective communication with management and team members.

Responsibilities

  • Use the Work Order as a guide to job requirements and specifications.
  • Set-up line or assist with line set-up using the line diagram.
  • Inventory control, tracking and reconciliation of customer product and components.
  • Assign temporary staff to tasks and train them accordingly.
  • Oversee and monitor production flow, troubleshoot issues, and implement line improvements.
  • Motivate temporary staff to maintain maximum line efficiency and meet production goals.
  • Ensure finished product meets specifications and perform hourly quality checks.
  • Maintain all production paperwork and enter data into the system.
  • Keep line clean and maintain good housekeeping.
  • Follow safety rules, attend safety training, and ensure area safety.
  • Communicate with warehouse, maintenance and QA as needed; inform supervisor of issues.
  • Overtime is required; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Opportunity: The Production Line Leader position is responsible for overseeing a production line within an Assembly and Contract Packaging plant, ensuring maximum productivity and quality.

  • Second shift: 3pm-11pm (M-F) or Third shift: 11pm-7am (M-F) overtime and weekends as needed
  • Pay Rate: $19.25 and 50 cents shift differential
How will you impact Smurfit WestRock Company:
  • Use the Work Order as a guide to individual job requirements and specifications.
  • Set-up line or assist with line set-up as needed, using the line diagram.
  • Responsible for inventory control, tracking and reconciliation of customer product and components, assuring that both are correct and properly placed on the line; kept in good supply as needed for the completion of the shift's production and the start of the next shift, if applicable.
  • Assign temporary staffing service employees to individual tasks on the line as outlined in the work order and train them accordingly.
  • Oversee and monitor production flow on the line, trouble shoot problems, make equipment adjustments as needed, recommend and institute line improvements, and direct temporary staff labor issues to Assembly Supervisor.
  • Motivate temporary staffing service employees in order to maintain maximum production line efficiency and meet production goals.
  • Ensure that the completed finished product meets all specifications outlined in the Work Order and complete hourly quality checks to verify Ensure adherence to Company policies, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and CGMPs (Current Good Manufacturing Practices), job specific instructions, and customer specific instructions.
  • Accurately maintain all production paperwork, including recording and reconciling temporary staff labor hours, and enter production data into the computer system.
  • Maintain line cleanliness through good housekeeping practices.
  • Responsible for safety on the line and for adhering to all safety rules and programs, and for attending all required safety training.
  • Communicate with other departments, such as warehouse, maintenance and quality assurance as appropriate and necessary, and keep Supervisor apprised of issues related to the line.
  • Responsible for the overall Safety and cleanliness of equipment and area.
  • Work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Overtime is required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What you need to succeed
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to effectively communicate with management and team members.
  • Perform basic math functions.

  • Ability to handle detail-oriented work.
  • General fluency in English required, verbal and written.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or scheduled form.
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods as a primary job responsibility.
  • Capacity to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. intermittently during a typical work shift.
  • Observance of established safety guidelines in conducting physical work activity duties.
  • Wear protective equipment as required.
