Job summary

Chemours is seeking a Production Leader at our New Johnsonville, TN location to drive safe and reliable manufacturing operations. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, align with maintenance and reliability groups, and lead by influence to achieve production goals across shifts.

The role requires a strong background in chemical manufacturing, PSM, and Lean daily management, with emphasis on safety, quality, and process discipline.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Experience in PSM-covered, high-hazard chemical environments is preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills across multiple shifts.
  • Ability to drive operational discipline and problem-solving across teams.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe, environmentally compliant, and reliable operation of process equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate daily/weekly production activities to meet plans, quality standards and business goals.
  • Provide operational leadership across multiple shifts and reinforce expectations and accountability.
  • Lead incident investigations, MOC, PHA, audits, and compliance activities to closure.

This position will report directly to the Operations Manager in our New Johnsonville, TN location. The primary responsibility of this role is to lead by influence and align operations to meet the business and operations goals for an Operating area. Through their understanding of capabilities within the area, they will ensure continuous and efficient production and effectively manage maintenance work priority to support reliable operations.This role will routinely interface with site teams to understand production needs. This role will guide overall reliability, quality, safety, and resourcing of area assets and continually work to improve the capabilities to meet business objectives. This role requires strong knowledge and work processes understanding.The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:Ensure the safe, environmentally compliant, and reliable operation of process equipment, including high-hazard and PSM-covered systems.Serve as the primary Operations point of contact for production priorities, operational risks, constraints, and cross-functional coordination.Coordinate daily and weekly production activities to safely meet production plans, customer requirements, quality standards, and business objectives.Provide operational leadership across multiple shifts by reinforcing expectations, removing barriers, and driving accountability.Promote operational discipline through adherence to standard work, operating procedures, shift handovers, field rounds, equipment status control, and timely escalation of abnormal conditions.Monitor and improve performance across safety, environmental, quality, reliability, production, cost, and schedule metrics.Develop and execute short- and mid-term operational plans in partnership with Operations, Maintenance, Reliability, Technical, and EHS teams.Support capital projects within the assigned area by coordinating equipment availability, project execution, and Readiness to Operate (RTO) activities.Lead and support incident investigations, corrective actions, Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), audits, and other compliance activities to ensure timely closure.Champion Lean/CBS principles through daily management, Tier meetings, visual management, standard work, and structured problem-solving.Understand key business drivers and identify opportunities to improve operational performance, productivity, and profitability.The following is required for this role:Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related technical field; equivalent manufacturing leadership experience may be considered.Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in a PSM-covered, high-hazard, or chemical manufacturing environment.Strong knowledge of manufacturing safety procedures, safe work practices, and operational discipline, including procedure adherence, shift turnover, field rounds, equipment status control, and abnormal situation response.Experience leading, supervising, or influencing operations teams in a manufacturing environment, including cross-functional and multi-shift coordination.Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively engage employees, contractors, and cross-functional teams.Experience handling processes involving hazardous substances.Proficiency with ERP systems, work management processes (WMP), production scheduling, and maintenance prioritization tools.Working knowledge of Lean daily management, visual management, Tier meetings, and structured problem-solving methodologies.Demonstrated ability to lead change, improve work processes, and partner effectively with Maintenance, Reliability, Technical, and EHS teams to drive safe and reliable operations.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Benefits:Competitive CompensationComprehensive Benefits Packages401(k) MatchEmployee Stock Purchase ProgramTuition ReimbursementCommuter BenefitsLearning and Development OpportunitiesStrong Inclusion and Diversity InitiativesCompany-paid Volunteer DayWe’re a different kind of chemistry company because we see our people as our biggest assets.
