Job summary

The Wisconsin Union is seeking an Assistant Chef to play a crucial role in the daily management and smooth operation of our high-volume production kitchen. Reporting to the Assistant Manager, this position will oversee and develop kitchen staff, coordinate daily food production, and ensure we consistently deliver exceptional customer service and high-quality culinary products.

In this role you will: Days will vary; work hours 6:00 am - 2:00 pm. 100% on-site at Memorial Union Kitchen.

Qualifications

• 1 year of kitchen production experience.
• 6 months of leadership overseeing kitchen staff and production.
• ServSafe certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review orders and resolve production issues to ensure on-time delivery.
• Oversee production including the dish room and kitchen prep.
• Maintain and clean equipment and work areas, following safety rules.
• Assist in inventory and schedule staff for daily operations.
• Lead staff with exceptional customer service and food prep guidance.
• Coordinate day-to-day tasks of kitchen staff and catering support.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and procedures.
• Prepare routine and special menu items and manage catering logistics.
