Our Doors Internship Program is a paid opportunity for students to contribute to and learn from a global leader in manufacturing, design, and innovation. We offer internships in fields ranging from engineering, business, finance, operations, environmental health science, and technology, allowing you to explore a variety of industries such as automotive, home furnishings, bedding, and industrial products.

About The Program:
The Doors Internship Program is an immersive experience designed to build your expertise, grow your network, and give you hands-on experience across different functions. You’ll work on real-world tasks and/or projects, receive mentorship from experienced professionals, and be part of a company that enhances people’s lives through innovation in comfort-driven design and manufacturing.

The Production team plays a critical role in delivering safe, high‑quality products through efficient and reliable manufacturing operations. Continuous Improvement (CI) is a key focus across production, driving enhanced productivity, waste reduction, and process standardization.

This internship supports our commitment to operational excellence by engaging early‑career talent in hands‑on CI initiatives that create measurable impact on the shop floor.

As a Production Intern, you will support manufacturing operations by assisting with continuous improvement projects aimed at improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost. This role provides direct exposure to production environments and practical experience applying CI and lean concepts to real manufacturing challenges.

This position is ideal for students interested in manufacturing, operations, or industrial engineering who want hands‑on experience contributing to efficiency and performance improvements.

So, what will you be doing as a Production Intern?
  • Continuous Improvement Support – Assist with CI projects focused on waste reduction, process optimization, cycle time improvement, and standard work.
  • Shop Floor Observation & Analysis – Observe production processes, collect data, and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Lean Tools & Methods – Support the use of lean tools such as 5S, value stream mapping, visual management, and root cause analysis.
  • Data Collection & Reporting – Gather production metrics and help analyze performance trends to support improvement initiatives.
  • Process Documentation – Assist with updating work instructions, standard operating procedures, and visual aids.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration – Work with production, quality, engineering, and CI teams to implement improvements.
  • Safety & Quality Awareness – Support initiatives that enhance workplace safety and product quality.
  • Learning & Development – Gain exposure to manufacturing operations and CI best practices while learning from experienced professionals.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in manufacturing and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to be hands‑on in a production environment.
  • Basic analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team setting.
Things we consider a plus:
  • Coursework or exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or CI principles.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Familiarity with basic data analysis tools (Excel, charts, metrics).
  • Interest in a future career in production, operations, or CI leadership.
