Job summary

Janicki Industries in Washington State offers an intern position across engineering and manufacturing teams, helping solve complex technical problems and support production projects in aerospace, space, defense, and marine sectors.

You will work with engineers, technicians, and operators, contributing to preliminary design, details, testing, and commissioning tasks under a mentor, while developing practical hands-on experience in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Preference for sophomores or juniors.
• Must be a US Citizen or a permanent resident under ITAR/EAR.

Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of basic engineering principles to solve complex technical problems with a team of engineers.
• Manage small projects from preliminary design through detail engineering, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning in production.
• Works independently with strong organizational skills and attention to clerical procedures.
• Communicate effectively; choose appropriate tone and medium for the audience.
• Recognize opportunities and initiate actions to improve processes and take on responsibility.
• Complete assignments given by the assigned mentor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Department Summary

Specific job functions will depend upon the actual department and team in which the intern will be working and the specific project(s) to which the intern is assigned, which may may involve practical tasks in a production/manufacturing setting. Roles & Responsibilities

• Apply their knowledge of basic engineering principles to solve complex technical problems working with a team of engineers
• Manage small projects from preliminary design through detail engineering, manufacturing, assembly and commissioning in production
• Works independently and efficiently with excellent organizational skills and a high level of clerical procedures
• Communicates effectively and appropriately; uses good judgment as to what to communicate to whom as well as the best way to get that accomplished; speaks in a clear and credible manner, selecting the right tone for the situation and audience; listens to others and allows them to make their point.
• Recognizes opportunities and initiates actions to capitalize on them; looks for new and productive ways to make an impact; demonstrates this characteristic when it comes to generating new ideas or processes, seeking out and taking on increasing responsibility or resolving problems as they occur; uses sound judgment about when to take action and when to seek guidance or permission.
• Completes assignments given by the respective assigned mentor
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Previous internship experience preferred
• Preference for candidates at sophomore or junior standing
• Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3)
• Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university degree engineering program
• Must be able to work well in an integrated, multidisciplinary, collaborative, team environment, including daily interactions with technicians, millwrights, machinists, engineers, and managers
• Must have strong customer service skills and the ability to multi-task
• Must be able to work well independently and under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines
• Must possess effective oral and written communication skills in the English language.

Detailed Wage Information

Wage range for this role is $24 an hour plus a discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees may also receive additional pay for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay. The range provided represents Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role The actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors including experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
