Job summary

JBS USA in Plainwell, MI is hiring for production roles on the assembly floor, focusing on harvesting and preparing beef products for shipment. The job involves using hand tools and powered equipment and requires lifting and moving product on a hot or cold line.

You will join a fast-paced facility with safety and quality as top priorities. Previous meat processing experience is a plus, and training is provided to support growth within a large global company.

Qualifications

• Candidates will have the ability to work in a setting that will require harvesting the animals and or work at preparing the product to be ready for shipment to customers.
• Work may involve using hand tools, such as knives and hooks and also could involve using powered industrial hand tools such as saws, skinners or other powered knives.

Responsibilities

• Unloading and segregating live animals in a humane manner and prepare for entering Harvest Floor.
• Hide removal using knives and other powered equipment.
• Trimming of carcasses free of contaminates, Harvest of offal products.
• Breakdown carcasses, save primal, trim, bag and box product to customer specifications.

The MAP process is a part of the Plainwell ground beef operation. Plainwell is also one of the few plants that produces ground beef patties. Over one million lbs (450,000 kg) of beef are produced each day. The Plainwell facility produces biogas in an anaerobic lagoon and uses it in place of natural gas to heat a portion of the water used in the plant. The facility was recognized by the American Meat Institute as a Tier 3 facility for its accomplishments with ISO 14001. Plainwell recently built a $31 million distribution center (85,000 ft²) with a 55,000 box capacity.
