Job summary

MICA Steelworks in Rhome, TX is seeking a Production Helper to assist fabricators in the manufacturing of structural and metal products. You will support welding and fitting, move materials, and maintain cleanliness and safety in the shop.

Responsibilities include lifting and positioning parts, loading and unloading stock, and helping the team meet production and quality goals. This is a full-time in-plant role with overtime as required and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 3–6 months experience.
• Experience in manufacturing plant or warehouse; steel industry a plus.
• Forklift and overhead crane certification required; operation only after certification.

Responsibilities

• Maintain performance standards and meet production and quality expectations.
• Lift, position, and remove workpieces to assist fitting and welding.
• Load, stack, and transport stock, tools, dies, and work in process by hand or truck.
• Clean work areas, machines, tools, and equipment.
• Pick up scraps from work areas; load and unload trucks.
• Grind burrs from holes and sharp corners from material.
• Assist fellow employees and perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent, required plus 3-6 months experience.
• Experience in working in a manufacturing plant or warehouse. Experience in steel industry and/or galvanizing is a plus
• Ability to be forklift and overhead crane certified and operate a forklift and overhead crane. May not operate either until certified

Qualifications

• Knowledge of electric and pneumatic hand tools
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Ability to effectively communicate in English – both reading and writing
• Ability to maintain good attendance and punctuality
• Ability to work required overtime, as required
• Ability to following instructions and the Leadsman's directions

Responsibilities

• Ability to assist fellow employees, as directed; and, ability to perform other duties as assigned

Current Shifts

Monday - Friday, 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM with Saturday, as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Maximum shop exposure
• Exposure to extreme temperatures
• No travel required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires long hours of standing, squatting, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, being near moving equipment, and exposure to change of temperature or humidity, including dust, fumes, or gases.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 - 55 per week
