Job summary

Indium Corporation in Rome, NY is seeking a Production Group Leader for the 2nd shift (3:00pm–11:30pm) to manage daily operations and oversee distribution of product to customers. You may perform manual production tasks and will supervise non-personnel work activities in the absence of the Production Supervisor.

The role requires strong leadership, LEAN knowledge, and excellent organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with related experience, or an associate degree with related experience.
• Four years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Knowledge of LEAN concepts and demonstrated continuous improvement success.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and prioritize work within the production area.
• Observe safety and security requirements.
• Perform inventory control, track orders, close orders, record scrap, and maintain accuracy of completed parts and inventory.
• Complete all required documentation.
• Apply Lean manufacturing principles.
• Assist operators with troubleshooting decisions when needed.
• In the Supervisor’s absence, refer personnel matters to a supervisor, manager, or HR.
• Develop supervisory skills through training.
• Provide input on operator performance and learning potential.
• Uphold Indium’s quality management system standards and suggest improvements.
• Perform manual production tasks as required.
• Attend training as needed.
• Handle other duties and special projects.

Job Summary

The Production Group Leader is responsible, within an assigned production area, for performing daily operational and administrative tasks related to the accurate and timely distribution of product to customers and may be required to perform manual production tasks due to business demand, or in the Production Supervisor’s absence, or as assigned, is responsible for performing delegated non-personnel-related work management activities.

Essential Job Functions (Competencies)

• Schedule/prioritize work within production area
• Observe all safety and security requirements
• Perform inventory control and reconciliation/audit, track job orders, close orders, record scrap, and maintain the accuracy of completed parts and required inventory
• Complete all required documentation
• Apply Lean manufacturing principles
• Develop and maintain working knowledge of processes within assigned area and assist operators with making decisions when troubleshooting problems
• In the Supervisor’s absence, refer personnel matters requiring immediate attention to another department supervisor, manager, or Human Resources
• Develop supervisory skills through formal and informal training
• Provide input on success and learning potential of Operators
• Uphold and promote the standards of Indium’s quality management system, including following procedures and work instructions, and recommending improvements
• Perform manual production tasks as needed
• Attend training as needed or assigned
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) with two years of related work experience, or an associate degree with one year of related work experience, or four years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of education
• Demonstrated mentoring and leadership qualities
• Good computer skills and able to conduct basic search
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of LEAN concepts and demonstrated continuous improvement successAbility to perform mathematical calculations
• Strong organizational skills
• Provide own source of transportation for any local/day travel, including travel between Indium Corporation facilities

The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the range for the position. The actual range will vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position’s qualifications, and internal equity.

The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components include health, dental, and vision insurance, PTO, retirement plan, volunteer opportunities, paid holidays, overtime opportunities, and many more.

$17.00 per hour - $24.50 per hour

($35,000 - $50,500 annually)
