Job summary

Timken, located in Keene, New Hampshire, is seeking a Production Expeditor to maintain uninterrupted material flow on the shop floor in a lean environment. You will deliver parts, manage inventories, and support continuous improvement with kanban and 5S practices.

Ideal candidates have manufacturing or warehouse experience, knowledge of pull systems, and the ability to work with production teams. This is a full-time on-site role with safety-focused practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse setting, Lean or JIT preferred.
• Familiarity with kanban, pull systems, and 5S principles.

• Physical ability to lift and move materials as required.

Responsibilities

• Deliver production parts, components, tools, and consumables to workstations at required takt-aligned frequencies.
• Remove finished goods, scrap, and packaging from the production line and transport to staging, inspection, or storage areas.
• Execute standardized material handling routes (kitting, replenishment, and pick-up) and adhere to visual controls and pull systems (kanban, box signals).
• Perform cycle counts and basic inventory reconciliation at point-of-use; report discrepancies immediately.
• Stage material for the next shift according to standardized work and FIFO rules.
• Inspect delivered material for accuracy, quantity, and basic quality issues; quarantine and tag nonconforming items per procedure.
• Maintain 5S at material storage areas and production cells; replenish and label locations as needed.
• Escalate production issues (shortages, quality defects, equipment problems) using standard escalation paths and support first-response troubleshooting.
• Support quick changeovers and setup assistance by staging tools and components.
• Track and report basic performance metrics (on-time delivery to point-of-use, shortages prevented, replenishment cycle time).
• Participate in daily team huddles, Gemba, and continuous improvement (Kaizen) events; suggest countermeasures for material flow problems.
• Operate material handling equipment safely (cart, pallet jack, forklift if certified) and follow EHS procedures
• Complete other duties as assigned to support team objectives.

Position Summary

The Production Expeditor is responsible for maintaining uninterrupted material flow at the point of use in a lean manufacturing environment. This role supports production by delivering parts, tools, and consumables to the shop floor, removing finished goods and waste, performing basic inventory checks, and identifying process interruptions or opportunities for improvement. The production expeditor helps sustain takt time, reduces production downtime, and supports continuous improvement activities.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment, preferably in a Lean or JIT setting.
• Familiarity with kanban, pull systems, and basic 5S principles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standardized work.
• Good communication skills and ability to work closely with production teams.
• Physical ability to lift and move materials up to company-specified weights and to stand/walk for extended periods.
• Basic computer skills for scanning, mobile device use, and simple data entry.
• Valid forklift/pallet jack certification preferred (or willingness to become certified).
