Job summary

Westlake Chemical Corporation in Texas seeks a Chemical Engineer to monitor and optimize production processes, troubleshoot issues, and support continuous improvement across safety, quality, and environmental objectives.

The candidate will work with Unit Managers and production teams to implement improvements, develop P&IDs and emergency procedures, and participate in plant projects while ensuring compliance with company policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering with 2 years of process or production engineering experience.
• Strong problem solving, organizational & communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills; able to work with people at all levels.
• Background screening including motor vehicle record check, drug testing & pre-employment physical.
• TWIC card required.

Responsibilities

• Monitor day-to-day operation of the unit to minimize costs and maximize production.
• Assist in troubleshooting process problems, mechanical failures, and customer complaints.
• Follow directions of Unit Manager or Production Superintendent to ensure policies are followed.
• Support studies to improve operating efficiency, profitability, quality, safety; collaborate with project departments.
• Work with Unit Manager and Supervisors on process, environmental, safety, or employee problems.
• Develop and update P&IDs, JSEA’s and GOIs and Emergency Procedures.
• Work on assigned projects and provide general plant support.
