Job summary

JTEKT Automotive in Morristown, Tennessee is seeking an engineering professional to support high-volume manufacturing. The role focuses on reducing downtime, cutting costs and driving quality improvements across processes and equipment.

Qualifications

  • Requires a B.S. in Engineering or B.A./Associate Degree in Engineering with 5+ years in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting automated equipment in a high-speed production setting.
  • Familiarity with TS16949/ISO14001, PFMEA, Control Plans and Process Sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Reduce downtime, costs, quality issues and improve productivity in daily manufacturing support.
  • Assist in new project startup, equipment procurement, installation and grooming.
  • No supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
  • Daily Manufacturing Support aimed at reducing downtime, reducing costs, quality improvements and productivity gains
  • Assist in new project startup and new equipment procurement, installation and grooming.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Automated equipment troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing.
  • Capital procurement experience and preparation for production.
  • Ability to analyze statistical data and produce presentations.
  • Knowledge of various fixture design, tooling design, and gage design.
  • Perform process capability studies.
  • Familiar with TS16949 and ISO14001 requirements for producing Process Sheets, Control Plans and PFMEA documentation.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems.
  • Close tolerance measurement.
  • Work without close supervision.
  • Make engineering reports as required for process development.
  • Create technical instructions for equipment / processes.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment utilizing effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative, with ability to make decisions.
  • Positive attitude & ability to prioritize and deal with multiple assignments and stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and related software, including MS Word, Excel, AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work overtime is an essential function of the position.
Education and Experience:
  • B. S. Degree in Engineering or B. A./Associate Degree in Engineering with minimum 5 years’ experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment

  • Travel by automobile and plane required approximately 10-20% of time.
