Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with heat transfer mechanics and non-ferrous materials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining ISO 9001 and IATF16949 quality systems and audits.
  • Lead process improvements and cost reduction initiatives to improve yields and efficiency.
  • Support launch planning and implementation of new products.
  • Develop and implement plans for overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and continuous process improvements.
  • Provide technical assistance to operators and develop standard operating procedures.

Job description

Responsible for assisting in the implementation of and maintaining ISO 9001 and IATF16949 quality systems and audits; product launches; managing workplace layout, process improvements, corrective actions, equipment efficiency, workflow, scrap reduction, cost improvements, and product quality.

Essential Functions
  • Requires substantial physical activity throughout shift (except breaks and lunch) such as walking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, handling, near/far vision, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Work in compliance with PPAP procedures, control plans, inspection standards, APQP, FMEA, process flow, and continuous improvement.
  • Responsible for maintaining ISO 9001 and IATF16949 quality systems and conducting quality audits.
  • Issue process/equipment improvements, condition adjustments, and process arrangements.
  • Conduct analyses using engineering and statistical methodologies in the development of new, revised, and refined process enhancements; provide technical expertise and assistance to operators; develop sound operating practices and procedures for assigned area.
  • Maintain visual inspection standards and resolve product quality issues.
  • Develop and implement plans for continuous overall equipment effectiveness (OEE); improve yields, uptime, and cycle times of equipment, improve product flow, and reduce costs.
  • Participate in launch planning and implementation of new products.
  • Develop and implement productivity, quality, and continuous process improvement by utilizing Industrial Engineering (IE) and Quality Control (QC) methods.
  • Evaluate new and existing process equipment for improved process performance.
  • Implement and maintain quality systems.
  • Lead cost reduction activities.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Job Related Functions
  • Self-starter, multi-tasker, and detail-oriented with excellent computer and math skills.
  • Ability to work under tight production standards.
  • Able to travel on site to assist at customer locations.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing systems.
  • Requires working in temperature extremes.
  • Assist in Kaizen implementation and 5S activities.
  • Observe all safety rules.
  • Related process design skills.
Educational Requirements
  • Experience with heat transfer mechanics.
  • Deep understanding of non-ferrous materials.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • 2 or more years of experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred experience in Extrusion processes.
