Job summary

Westlake Corporation in Louisiana seeks an Engineer I to support EHS, production, and process optimization. Role includes monitoring parameters, tracking KPIs, and active participation in safety programs.

Requires a B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering and 0–2 years' experience. Proficiency in MS Office, Aspen Process Explorer, and SAP. Strong communication skills and teamwork are essential; TWIC card and background checks may be required.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in engineering and relevant coursework.
  • 0–2 years of refinery/chemical plant design experience is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, Aspen Process Explorer, and SAP.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with a team orientation.
  • Background screening, TWIC card, and pre-employment physical may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety, and Security policies.
  • Monitor operating parameters and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Develop, track and communicate KPIs.
  • Participate in Turnaround Planning, Process Hazard Analysis, ISO activities, incident investigations.
  • Review, develop, and create procedures; provide technical assistance to maintenance and production groups.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENTThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate as normally based in an office. Some of the work may be required in the operating units which can require usage of required PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, etc. May also result in exposure to outside elements and may require usage of stairs and elevators.
