Job summary

Copeland is seeking a Production Engineer to optimize high-volume machining operations, owning CNC processes, tooling, and programming to enhance safety, quality, delivery, and cost targets. You will support front-line operations, identify root causes, and implement lasting improvements across manufacturing processes.

Ideal candidates have a related technical degree and manufacturing experience, with strong analytical skills and experience in lean initiatives, APC/APQu.

  • Equivalent combinations of education and manufacturing experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Own machining processes including CNC equipment, workholding, tooling, and programming to support safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Provide front-line technical support for high-volume machining operations by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions for production, tooling, and equipment issues.
  • Create, maintain, and improve machining process documentation, standardized work, and manufacturing standards.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that increase throughput, reduce downtime, improve quality, and lower manufacturing costs.
  • Track, monitor, and drive improvements in key manufacturing metrics including safety, quality, OEE, downtime, scrap, and throughput.
  • Modify and troubleshoot CNC, PLC, and robotic equipment and programs to support operational performance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams to improve process stability and equipment reliability.
  • Analyze production data and apply structured problem-solving techniques to reduce variation and improve process capability.
  • Actively participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 Lean daily meetings and support Lean Manufacturing initiatives throughout the machining operation.
  • Ensure compliance with all housekeeping procedures and all quality and safety regulations.

Position Summary

The Production Engineer is responsible for supporting and optimizing high-volume machining operations through continuous improvement, process development, equipment performance enhancement, quality improvement, and cost reduction initiatives. This role provides technical ownership of machining processes including CNC equipment, tooling, workholding, and programming while working closely with production, maintenance, and quality teams to ensure safety, efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction objectives are achieved.

AS A PRODUCTION ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
  • Own machining processes including CNC equipment, workholding, tooling, and programming to support safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.
  • Provide front-line technical support for high-volume machining operations by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions for production, tooling, and equipment issues.
  • Create, maintain, and improve machining process documentation, standardized work, and manufacturing standards.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field.
  • Manufacturing experience, including co-op or internship experience, is preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and manufacturing experience will also be considered (i.e., Associate's degree plus equivalent manufacturing or technical experience).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Practical computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and manufacturing data analysis tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this role.
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
  • Five years of production engineering experience in a high-volume machining environment.
  • Strong technical background supporting CNC machining equipment, tooling, workholding, manufacturing processes, and advanced troubleshooting activities.
  • Demonstrated success improving manufacturing performance through OEE improvement, downtime reduction, throughput increases, and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLC software, CNC controls, and FANUC robotics.
  • Experience leading or supporting capital equipment projects, including equipment installation, start-up, and process validation.
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis, root cause analysis, and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Knowledge and application of Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement tools.
