Salas O’Brien is seeking a Production Engineer to support the Scorpius project in Los Alamos, NM, focusing on transitioning complex systems from design to fabrication and production. You will work with engineering, technicians, procurement, and project teams to resolve challenges while meeting technical and schedule requirements.
You will review drawings and BOMs, identify manufacturability constraints, and drive process improvements across manufacturing and assembly.

Job Summary:
The Production Engineer will support the Scorpius project in Los Alamos, New Mexico, with a focus on transitioning complex engineered systems and components from design into fabrication, assembly, integration, and production. This role works closely with engineering, technicians, manufacturing partners, procurement, and project teams to resolve production challenges, improve manufacturability, and ensure work is completed in accordance with technical requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.

Travel: This position is primarily onsite in Los Alamos, New Mexico. Occasional travel may be required based on project needs.
The expected base salary range for this role is $110,000 - $155,000USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.

Bachelors or better in Industrial Engineering or related field.
Bachelors or better in Manufacturing Engineering Technology or related field.
Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Ability to obtain and maintain required DOE site access and security credentials.
Experience with low-volume, high-complexity manufacturing or production environments.
Experience supporting DOE, NNSA, national laboratory, accelerator, nuclear, defense, or other highly regulated technical programs.
