Job summary

Indiana Automotive Fasteners is seeking a manufacturing engineer to partner with suppliers and cross-functional teams to advance North America fastener production. You will apply strong knowledge of processes, automation, PLCs, and equipment to improve operations.

The candidate will develop process documentation, deliver technical training, and lead root-cause analyses with capital project oversight to drive continuous improvement across the plant.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials).
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Fluent in English; Japanese as a second language helpful.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation, PLCs and equipment.
  • Develop and manage process documentation such as work instructions, SOPs, and process control plans.
  • Develop and deliver technical training to technical and non-technical Team Members.
  • Support problem investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Initiate, budget, implement and manage capital projects.
  • Support manufacturing process design, equipment selection, capability validation and process maintenance activities.

Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - include the following.

  • Partner with Aoyama Seisakusho group of companies to provide products and manufacturing processes to support the North America fastener markets.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, automation, PLCs and equipment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks), process simulation & data analysis tools.
  • Experience with Toyota Production System, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
  • Develop and manage process documentation such as work instructions, SOPs, and process control plans.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Develop and deliver technical training to technical and non-technical Team Members.
  • Support problem investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action implementation. Includes use of poka-yoke devices.
  • Initiate, justify, budget, implement and manage capital projects
  • Support manufacturing process design, equipment selection, capability validation and process maintenance activities.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BS) required with a major in an Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials Science). 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.

COMMUNICATION

Effective communication skills to collaborate with other team members and customers.Ability to interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations, write reports, capital appropriation requests, and procedure manuals. Fluent in English. Japanese as a second language is helpful.

PROBLEM-SOLVING

Ability to identify and resolve technical challenges related to manufacturing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and lift up to 25 pounds.
