Job summary

CACI International seeks a Production Engineer to support NSWC Crane on-site. The role focuses on sustaining EO/IR systems through ECPs, obsolescence management, and test plan development.

Responsibilities include technical documentation, procedure development, and PQS participation. Requires a BS in engineering, production engineering experience, and ability to work independently with strong English reporting skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience in production engineering for Electro-Optic Systems.
  • Ability to analyze repair action reporting and system performance data.
  • Knowledge of obsolescence mitigation (DMSMS) and risk management.
  • OSHA/HAZMAT/ESD awareness training.
  • Clear English reporting and strong team interfacing.

  • Identify obsolescence issues and perform risk assessments to ensure system sustainability.
  • Assist in reverse engineering and development of Technical Data Packages (TDPs).
  • Develop, validate, and execute comprehensive test plans and scenarios.
  • Modify and verify procedures reflecting system upgrades and process improvements.
  • Develop and review procedures for EO/IR system operation and support.

CACI is seeking a Production Engineer to support our customer at NSWC Crane.

What You’ll Get to Do
  • Engineering Change Proposals (ECP): Preparation and review of inputs for ECPs, waivers, deviations impacting design, performance, safety, and producibility.
  • Obsolescence & Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating obsolescence (DMSMS) issues and performing risk assessments to ensure system sustainability and operational availability.
  • Reverse Engineering: Aid in efforts to Reverse Engineer electronic assemblies and components, including development of Technical Data Packages (TDPs).
  • Test Plan Development: Assisting in the creation, validation, and execution of comprehensive test plans and executable test scenarios to verify system protocols.
  • Technical Documentation: Modification, validation and verification (V&V) of existing procedures to reflect system upgrades and process improvements.
  • Procedure Development and Review: Assist in the development and review of procedures related to the operation, maintenance, and support of EO/IR systems.

  • On‑site customer support required.
  • Schedule flexibility allowed within government-staffed lab hours.
  • Laboratory personnel may be required to perform auxiliary duties to maintain a safe, organized, and efficient work environment, including general lab maintenance, cleaning, hazardous waste disposal, inventory management, equipment calibration monitoring, and organization.
  • May be required to attend local meetings and trainings; this local travel is within 50 miles of the NSWCCD and mileage will be reimbursed, but lodging and per diem are not authorized.
  • Upon employment, will be required to work toward proficiency in Open Air Collimator Benches (OACB) and Boresight Enhncement (BE).
  • Will be required to participate in the Government Personnel Qualification System (PQS) Program to document skill levels via Workload Qualification Records (WQR), covering areas such as HAZMAT, ESD prevention, laser operation, material handling, and various testing and repair procedures.
You’ll Bring These Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or another Engineering Discipline.
  • Experience in production engineering, including development, validation, and optimization of maintenance and test procedures for Electro-Optic Systems.
  • Proficiency in performing technical diagnostics, analyzing repair action reporting, and evaluating system performance data, and in reviewing, updating, and validating complex test plans, ECPs, and technical forms.
  • Knowledge of obsolescence mitigation strategies (DMSMS) and risk management frameworks.
  • Familiarity with OSHA, HAZCOM, HAZMAT, and ESD awareness and prevention training.
  • Ability to write clear reports and specifications in English.
  • Ability to interface with team members, technical leads, and project managers.
  • Ability to work independently on individual projects.
