Job Title: Production Worker Department: Production/Processing Reports To: Production Supervisor Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Summary

The Production Worker is responsible for safely and efficiently performing a variety of tasks involved in the processing, packaging, and preparation of sweet potatoes for shipment. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced food production environment, and a strong commitment to food safety, quality, and workplace safety.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Sort, inspect, wash, grade, trim, peel, cut, or otherwise process sweet potatoes according to production requirements.
  • Operate production and packaging equipment safely and efficiently after receiving appropriate training.
  • Monitor products for quality, size, appearance, cleanliness, and proper packaging.
  • Load and unload product, boxes, containers, or materials as directed.
  • Package and label finished products accurately.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout the shift.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, quality control, and workplace safety procedures.
  • Follow production schedules and meet established productivity and quality standards.
  • Remove damaged, defective, or improperly processed product.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning and sanitation according to company procedures.
  • Report equipment problems, product-quality concerns, safety hazards, or other issues to a supervisor.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Work cooperatively with coworkers, supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other departments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous food processing, manufacturing, agricultural, or production experience is helpful but not required.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Work Environment

  • Work is performed in a food processing/production facility.
  • Employees may be exposed to wet, cold, warm, or humid conditions depending on the processing area.
  • Work may involve standing for extended periods and performing repetitive movements.
  • The position may require working around moving machinery, conveyors, forklifts, water, cleaning chemicals, and food-processing equipment.
  • Appropriate PPE and safety training will be provided as required.

Schedule

Production schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime, and seasonal or peak-production hours depending on business needs.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, twist, and use hands.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials within the requirements of the position.
  • Ability to work safely around production equipment and follow established safety procedures.
