Job summary

UNITED STATES DIGITAL SPACE LLC is seeking a Production Control Scheduler (Dragon) in Hawthorne, CA. You will own production scheduling for a work center, creating rate-based plans and coordinating with teams to meet rate targets and customer needs.

We look for strong problem-solving, cross-functional leadership, and experience with ERP/MRP systems, SQL, and Power BI. Expect exposure to long-term capacity planning and continuous improvement initiatives within a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1+ years in scheduling or 3+ years without a degree required.
  • 1+ years using ERP/MRP systems in production environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with bias for speed and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Own production scheduling for a work center, managing day-to-day and long-term needs.
  • Create rate-based schedules and define constraints for upcoming missions.
  • Balance hardware allocation between new/refurbished units per customer needs and schedules.
  • Coordinate with production teams to set daily/weekly goals honoring constraints.
  • Build relationships with customers and suppliers, communicating estimates and dates.
  • Improve MRP accuracy and cross-functional alignment with schedules.
  • Schedule across shared resources, negotiating priorities for optimal outcomes.
  • Use SQL and Excel to identify shortages and pull hardware into production.
  • Identify opportunities to automate scheduling and reduce manual steps.
  • Lead root-cause analysis to remove blockers and improve yields and safety.

PRODUCTION CONTROL SCHEDULER (DRAGON)RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Take complete ownership of production scheduling for a given production work center, including managing both tactical day-to-day tasks as well as projecting long-term high-level rate needs for the department
  • Create a rate-based schedule for your hardware and define/track constraints across your build for the next missions
  • Use an established schedule to create and generate stakeholder buy-in on various scenarios to determine optimal hardware allocation between new/refurbished hardware that takes into account customer needs, current mission manifest, and customer quality requirements
  • Work with production teams to set, track, and execute daily and weekly goals for the work center that take into account personnel and equipment constraints but support overall rate targets
  • Build strong relationships with customers as well as internal/external suppliers and establish high-accuracy means of communication for both estimated hardware needs and completion dates
  • Understand MRP requirements and logic for your hardware, and lead cross-functional efforts to manage and improve MRP accuracy to create better alignment between targeted and actual schedules
  • Manage the scheduling and prioritization of your hardware at shared resources that are common to multiple departments at the company. Actively negotiate with peers in other departments for the correct overall priority and seek creative solutions that drive the optimal business outcome
  • Leverage SQL Queries and Excel databases to identify hardware shortages for upcoming builds and lead the charge to pull this hardware into your production area
  • Identify, develop, and implement opportunities for increased scheduling automation across the Dragon department with a focus on reducing the manual operations required to develop, track, and update overall schedules
  • Drive down near-term and future schedule risk by conducting work-center level capacity analysis, identifying model and communication gaps that cause schedule slips, and leading initiatives (reactive and proactive) that mitigate those risks
  • Lead efforts to uncover root-cause and develop permanent resolution on issues found during product builds as required to eliminate internal and external blockers to deliver product on time. Drive conversations around assembly-level & integration misalignment.
  • Identify and support improvement opportunities for product yield, quality, safety, cost, and team efficiency
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of experience in manufacturing scheduling, planning or operations OR 3+ years of experience in manufacturing scheduling, planning or operations in lieu of a degree
  • 1+ years of experience using ERP/MRP systems in a production environment
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Remarkable problem-solving skills with a bias for speed and accuracy
  • Self-motivated, quick learner, and ability to prioritize efforts to meet customer and company goals
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external supplier/customer relationships in a fast-moving and ever-changing environment
  • Technical knowledge and skills in coding and computer applications (e.g. MS Office Suite, VBA, Smartsheet, SQL, Confluence, JIRA, Power BI, etc.)
  • Strong track record of implementing continuous improvement efforts, ideally using problem solving frameworks including lean principles, six sigma, or Kaizen concepts
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams working on strategic problems
  • Project management professional certification
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be available for all shifts, extended hours, and/or weekends as needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods - 8 hours minimum
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay Range:Level 1: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00Level 2: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at the company. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
