Job summary

Blue Origin in Merritt Island, Florida seeks a hands-on Material/Inventory Planner to support manufacturing of space launch components. You will manage material flow, ERP/MRP activities, and cross-functional tasks across production, purchasing, and quality to keep the schedule on track.

The role emphasizes strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities in a fast-paced aerospace environment with safety and quality at the core.

Qualifications

• 2+ years supply chain experience

Responsibilities

• Evaluate manufacturing schedule and coordinate materials flow to meet customer requirements
• Release/close shop orders in MRP system and reconcile parts
• Provide detailed status of work in progress, material availability, and communicate constraints to schedule
• Prepare work orders for production based on master schedule, shop load and inventory
• Coordinate interdepartmental activity with warehouse, inspection, quality, operations, purchasing, engineering, logistics and program
• Schedule and expedite movement of parts by move orders, stock transfers and shipping requests
• Cross-functionally expedite material shortages with procurement, receiving, quality and other production areas
• Implement material stocking strategy on production lines and monitor floor stock
• Control access and consumption of material in manufacturing
• Monitor flow/velocity of jobs through production and ensure on-time completion
• Monitor MRB and stranded material disposition velocity
• Enter material transactions in ERP
• Prepare reports and note shortages/damage
• Process scrap and obsolete inventory from WIP locations
• Prepare for, conduct and assist in cycle counts
• Knowledge of backflush process
• Work with Production and Materials to resolve part discrepancies
• May interface with departments throughout the company

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will support the design, development and fabrication of space launch vehicles and components to support human spaceflight programs. This is a hands‑on position that requires strong communication, organization, planning, and project management skills. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities

7am - 4pm A Shift - Monday - Friday

• Evaluate manufacturing schedule and coordinate the availability and controlled flow of materials and services to meet customer requirements
• Performs shop order release/closure in MRP System and reconciles parts
• Provide detailed status of work in progress, material availability, and communicates constraints to schedule
• Prepare work orders for the production of parts based on master production schedule, shop load and inventory requirements
• Coordinate interdepartmental activity with warehouse, inspection, quality, operations, purchasing, engineering, logistics and program.
• Schedule and expedite the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers and requests for shipping orders
• Work cross functionally to expedite any material shortages with procurement, receiving, quality, and other production areas
• Implement material stocking strategy on production lines, monitor, control and maintain proper floor stock
• Control the proper access and consumption of material in manufacturing – custodian of the cash
• Monitor the flow/velocity of jobs through the production line and partner with Production to ensure work completes on time to schedule.
• Monitor the velocity of the disposition of MRB and stranded material
• Enter material transactions in ERP system
• Prepare reports and note shortages/damage
• Process Scrap and obsolete inventory from WIP locations as required.
• Prepare for, conduct and assist in reconciliation of cycle counts
• Knowledge of backflush process.
• Work with Production and Materials teams to resolve part discrepancies
• May be required to interface with departments throughout the company
• Must possess good organizational skills, the ability to work well with others, good decision making skills, and the ability to think outside the box

Qualifications

• 2+ years supply chain experience
• Experience with Materials Requirement Planning (MRP)
• Experience with activities related to planning and/or scheduling
• Experience working with a cross functional team
• Excellent computer skills with MS Office, ERP experience with MRP execution desired.
• Excellent written /verbal communications skills
• Demonstrates understanding and is able to apply continuous improvement terminology/tools: LEAN, Six Sigma principles/DFSS/Lean design principles, Value Stream, and Kaizen

• Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
• Flexible to work varied shifts, overtime, weekends and travel on occasion
• Based upon job duties, may need to work in various areas that may cause exposure to fumes, dust, toxic or caustic chemicals (well below OSHA and ACGIH exposure guidelines), outdoor weather, moving mechanical parts and/or be part of a hearing conservation program due to noise levels around certain equipment.
• Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as necessary.

• Ability to handle multiple decisions based on workload dispersion, program priorities and management and customer decisions
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc)
