Job summary

Optimal is seeking a Production Control Coordinator to manage daily material flows and inventory status within our manufacturing operations. The role focuses on prioritizing shipments, expediting where needed, and coordinating with scheduling to protect customer commitments.

The ideal candidate has at least 2 years in production control or materials management, working in a manufacturing plant environment, and a strong command of SAP, Microsoft Excel, and MS Office. Onsite work is required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in production control or materials management in a manufacturing setting.
  • Manufacturing plant experience is required.
  • Associate Degree or equivalent education is required; Lean/Six Sigma training is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Review morning inventories for potential criticals.
  • Check part status for all customers and prioritize shipments.
  • Coordinate with scheduling for required die sets and changeovers.
  • Prepare car loading matrix and check railcar cubing and total shipping volume.
  • Monitor part statuses at customers and update CMMS accordingly.
  • Answer required status changes as the day progresses.

Production Control Coordinator

Position Duties:
  • Review morning inventories for potential criticals
  • Check part status for all customers
  • Check parts owed to plants
  • Analyze and prepare any expedites needed for plants
  • Review all customers using the same part and prioritize shipments
  • Make shippers for early trucks and print Pick list at shipping office
  • Prepare car loading matrix for switches
  • Check railcar cubing and total shipping volume by part
  • Add shortage parts to Critical list Coordinate with Scheduling the required die sets and changeover to protect customers
  • Review Rack Status and Daily Rack Inventory for shortages
  • Print available car inventory
  • Review car manifests in CMMS to find required racks
  • Select railcars to bring in for switches
  • Check TSAA for overdue rail cars or inbound trucks
  • Review for critical shortages from plant startup
  • Put lineup in CMMS informing customer what is being done about any parts that are out of transit
  • Check all customers for CUM disagreements
  • Answer all part shortages
  • Monitor part statuses at customers in CMMS and answer required status changes as the day progresses
Skills Required:

Experience Required:
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment in the areas of Production Control or Materials Management.
  • Manufacturing plant experience
