Job summary

Vestis is seeking a dedicated team member for an industrial laundry facility in Metropolis, IL. You will participate in a team to handle and sort uniforms and linens, ensuring safe, accurate processing.

The role requires basic math, ability to follow instructions, and reliability. Shift runs Monday through Friday from 4am to 12:30pm, with potential weekend work and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school degree or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to understand all required training, written, and verbal instructions.
• Working knowledge of basic math.

Responsibilities

• Stages cart in lift table, secures safety chain, and raises the table.
• Folds linen, aprons, towels, table napkins, and/or fender/seat covers.
• Identifies and segregates merchandise not meeting quality standards (rips, tears, holes, stains).
• Accurately verifies merchandise quantity and bundles by type.
• Places bundles in correct storage bins, carts, or on shelves.
• Maintains safe and clean work environment and follows production practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Overview

• Performs work as part of a team in an industrial laundry facility.


• Responsible for the safe, expeditious, and accurate handling of merchandise into and/or out of the laundry facility.

Responsibilities / Essential Functions

• Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:


• Stages cart in lift table, secures safety chain, and raises the table.


• Folds linen, aprons, towels, table napkins, and/or fender/seat covers.


• Identifies and segregates merchandise not meeting specified quality standards in terms of rips, tears, holes, and stains.


• Accurately verifies merchandise quantity and bundles by type.


• Places bundles in correct storage bins, carts, or on shelves.


• Maneuvers full and empty baskets.


• Maintains safe and clean work environment, and observes best practices in all production activities.


• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

• Ability to understand all required training, written, and verbal instructions.


• Working knowledge of basic math skills.


• Good verbal and/or written communication skills.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.


• Ability to meet attendance schedule.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in a warehouse setting and regularly exposed to outside weather conditions, extreme heat and cold conditions as well as dust and noise.


• Work is based on a shift schedule, and may include weekends.


• Overtime required as needed.

Benefits: Vestis offers a wide array of comprehensive benefit programs and services, including medical, dental, vision, and pension. Employees are eligible for 40 hours per year total vacation, 40 hours of total floating holiday hours per year and 40 hours of paid sick time per year. Employees will also receive 6 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $16.00, depending on circumstances, including an applicant's skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors.
