Job summary

Greif in Austell, GA is seeking a Production Associate for the second shift from 2:30 PM to 12:30 AM. You will safely set up equipment, read work orders, and assist with changeovers to meet packaging specifications.

Candidates should have a high school diploma and basic mechanical aptitude. You’ll work with calipers and measuring tools, perform quality checks, and support continuous improvement initiatives while adhering to safety and OPEX requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use hand tools.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
• Willingness to work a 10-hour second shift with overtime as needed.
• Good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Safely set up equipment to meet production requirements.

• Assist the machine operator with installation and adjustment of mandrel during setup process.
• Communicate regularly with machine operator about quality concerns, equipment issues, and material counts.
• Remove finished cores and stack them onto pallets or trays.
• Perform periodic quality checks using the CSAR quality system.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities

• Safely set up equipment to meet production requirements.
• Read and interpret work orders to understand order packaging requirements.
• Calculate conversion of fractions to decimals, able to read a tape measure and use calipers and micrometers.
• Assist with changeovers between work orders to meet specifications.
• Assist the machine operator with installation and adjustment of mandrel during setup process.
• Communicate regularly with machine operator notifying keeping the operator informed of quality concerns, equipment issues, and material counts.
• Remove finished cores as needed and manually stack them onto pallets, racks, or into trays.
• Perform periodic quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications and/or COAs using the CSAR quality system.
• Determine which nylon cutting sleeves to use and when they need to be changed.
• Help troubleshoot and correct quality issues such as double cuts, fuzzy ends, burrs, and hair.
• Comply with all OPEX recordkeeping requirements.
• Possess knowledge and understanding of root cause and problem-solving methods.
• Education and Experience
• Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent).

Knowledge And Skills

• Basic verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to listen, understand, and follow directions.
• Ability to work in a variety of roles.
• Must have mechanical aptitude including the ability to use hand tools.
• Must be dependable and able to work regular 10-hour shift from 2:30 pm to 12:30 am Monday through Thursday with overtime on Friday and Saturday as required.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs. or less
• Ability to bend, twist, and walk frequently during 10-hour shift.

Compensation Range

The pay range for this position is $17.55 - $28.03annually. Typically, a competitive wage for new hires will fall between17.55 to28.03. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. If the competitive wage is equal in both fields, the starting rate is the same for all applicants that apply for this role. The starting rate is not representative of future compensation increases. The position may also be eligible for a short-term incentive.
