Job summary

Clorox through Kingsford Manufacturing in Burnside, KY seeks a Production Associate to safely produce high-quality charcoal briquettes. You will work in rotating shifts after two weeks of day-shift training, with overtime potential and evolving department assignments.

Responsibilities include operating plant areas, handling materials, maintaining equipment, and meeting daily targets while adhering to safety and quality standards. Strong math, teamwork, and adaptability are required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years manufacturing or related experience (e.g., automotive or diesel mechanic, construction, heavy equipment operator, machining worker) or 2 years military service working with industrial equipment.
  • Willing and able to learn and master new concepts across departments.
  • Communication, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.
  • Understanding of basic technical math and troubleshooting principles.
  • Must successfully complete Clorox Fork Truck Certification as outlined by the site Fork Truck Certification Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Process, manufacture, package, store, and distribute charcoal briquettes.
  • Operate in any of the following plant areas: Retort, Briquetting, Packaging, Warehouse.
  • Press control buttons, adjust turn controls, clean equipment, and perform minor repairs.
  • Move materials, supplies, and products between storage and work areas.
  • Pour, scoop, or dump specified ingredients into machine sections before starting.
  • Feed ingredients and products into machines by hand or conveyor and unload finished packaged product.
  • Disassemble equipment to repair or replace parts.
  • Monitor the production line for problems such as pile-ups, jams, or defects.
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, clear jams, remove defective or substandard materials.
  • Examine, measure, and weigh materials or products to verify conformance to standards.
  • Package the product in its final form and send it out.
  • Stock, sort product for packaging or filling machine operation, and replenish supplies.
  • Operate palletizing equipment to wrap finished products on pallets for storage or shipping.
  • Operate forklifts and powered industrial trucks to move materials and products, including loading and unloading trucks.
  • Adhere to all safety and quality standards, report unsafe conditions, near misses, or injuries promptly.
  • Deliver against daily, weekly, and monthly production targets.
  • Leverage technology as needed to stay informed (e.g., daily review of email, production schedules, troubleshooting guides).
  • Enter data into computers and monitor various areas of instrumentation, and count and record finished and rejected items.
  • Ensure all area housekeeping tasks are completed and workplace organization is maintained.
  • Complete routine and preventive maintenance for area equipment.
  • Maintain inventory storage areas including participation in cycle counts as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed to support business operations, as directed by management.

Position Overview

Production Associate at Kingsford Manufacturing in Burnside, KY is a producer of 100% American‑made charcoal briquets. Kingsford is the leading manufacturer of charcoal in the United States and our charcoal has become synonymous with authentic grilling, good food and most importantly, good times. The Production Associate works in a dynamic team‑based environment with the responsibility to safely produce the highest quality charcoal in the correct amount at the right cost.

The starting hourly rate is $21.11. Shift differential pay for 2nd shift is $0.65 and $0.85 for 3rd shift. The Production Associate will train on day shift for two weeks and then be placed in rotating openings in various departments and shifts based on business needs. This position requires work shift flexibility and the potential for required overtime.

Shift Schedule
  • 1st Shift: Wednesday – Sunday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
  • 2nd Shift: Friday – Tuesday 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
  • 3rd Shift: Sunday – Thursday 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Swing Shift: Monday & Tuesday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM; Wednesday & Thursday 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM; Friday 11:00 PM – 7:00 AM

Working Conditions
