Job summary

International Paper in Cambridge, MD is seeking a General Help / Utility - Production associate to support the machine center and production line. You will assist operators, uphold safety rules, follow GMPs, and help ensure a quality product in a busy plant environment.

This hourly, full-time position requires reading and following instructions, accurate reporting, and teamwork. Shifts include 7:00 am - 5:00 pm, Monday–Friday (some Saturdays) or 9:00 pm - 7:00 am, Sunday–Thursday (some Fridays);

Qualifications

• Read and interpret safety rules, operation manuals, and procedures.
• Write routine reports and correspondence.
• Communicate effectively with peers and management.
• Perform basic math in standard and metric units.
• Read standard and metric tape measures.

Responsibilities

• Assist the operator/assistant operator of a machine center with product quality.
• Comply with all required plant and OSHA rules.
• Work in a team environment to ensure a quality product.
• Support GMPs, site security, and food packaging safety requirements.
• Ensure safety, product quality, and data reporting for the machine center.
• Assist the machine center to maximize setup and operation in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

The Job You Will Perform

Essential duties and responsibilities:

• Assist the operator / assistant operator of a machine center with the quality of all products.
• Comply with all required plant and OSHA rules.
• Work together in a team environment in a safe, efficient and effective manner to ensure the production of a quality product.
• Must comply and support all applicable GMPs, Site Security, and Food Packaging Defense requirements that are referenced in the facilities GFSI food packaging safety program.
• Ensure safety, quality of product produced, all reports and or data collection, and effective operation of the machine center.
• Assist the machine center as needed to maximize the setup and operation of the machine center in a timely manner.
• Other duties as assigned by any member of management.

Education / Experience

• Ability to read and interpret written documents i.e. safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure (standard and metric), using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to read a standard and metric tape measure.

Work Environment

• Regular work near moving mechanical parts.
• Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and temperature variations.
