Job summary

Airgas, an Air Liquide company, is hiring a Production Associate (Cylinder Filler) at the Hingham, MA plant. The role focuses on safely filling gas products into cylinders and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

2nd shift runs 10am–6:30pm, Monday–Friday, with a $28.50/hr pay rate and a full benefits package. Responsibilities include cylinder preparation, high-pressure filling, safety checks, and accurate record-keeping to meet DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas requirements.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely handling and filling gas products into liquid, medical and high pressure cylinders in compliance with regulations and Airgas SOPs.
  • Conduct safety checks (odor tests, caps, valves) and analyze product purity and mixtures.
  • Prepare high‑pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling; attach to manifold and evacuate cylinders to ensure quality.
  • Load and unload cylinders on/off pallets and tractor trailers; operate forklift and warehouse equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records to DOT, FDA, OSHA and Airgas standards; complete quality control sheets.
  • Read cylinder labels and color codes to ensure correct labeling and understand hazards of gases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The Cylinder Filler will be responsible for safely handling and filling gas products into liquid, medical and high pressure gas cylinders in compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and meeting the standard operating procedures of Airgas.

  • Reviews and ensures cylinders prior to filling, following established guidelines to ensure government, Airgas, and distributor standards are met. Conducts a variety of Safety checks per procedures, such as odor tests, checking caps and valves. Analyzes products for purity and correct mixtures.

  • Takes care of high-pressure, medical and liquid cylinders. Prepares high‑pressure cylinders and cryogenic vessels for filling. Attaches to manifold, evacuates cylinders to ensure excellent quality and purity. Fills cylinders by pressure and weight, per regulations and standards.

  • Assists with the loading & unloading of cylinders on & off pallets and tractor trailers. Experienced in using a forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.

  • Maintains accurate records to DOT, FDA, OSHA, and Airgas standards. Completes quality control sheets as required.

  • Knowledgeable of hazards of various gases; size and contents of cylinders by reading and interpreting cylinder labels and the color-coding of tanks. Supports accurate labeling of cylinders.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • High school degree or GED required.

  • Mechanical aptitude.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience utilizing SAP or similar ERP system preferred.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.

  • Lives by Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and all related rules, regulations, procedures which are applicable to this position's responsibilities.

  • A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience. In lieu of specific industry experience, may accept an equivalent combination of education and experience.
