Job summary

Magna International in Michigan seeks someone to support manufacturing operations in a dynamic plant environment. The role involves following standard work, performing TPM checks, maintaining 5S practices, and handling materials with tuggers while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.

You will participate in continuous improvement activities and collaborate with team members to meet production goals in a fast-paced, detail-oriented setting. Training and safety compliance are emphasized.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or equivalent vocational/trade training in Manufacturing.
  • Ability to obtain tugger license and operate tugger safely.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic software, including Microsoft Office.
  • Strong listening and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Good math skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team or independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to flexible hours in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Standard Work and TWI guidelines for each workstation.
  • Perform TPM and daily care and safety checks as instructed.
  • Participate in preventive maintenance and equipment cleaning.
  • Maintain 5S organization at stations and plant areas.
  • Ensure material replenishment and proper setup to minimize downtime.
  • Conduct quality checks and document inspections per customer requirements.
  • Follow Andon alerts and attend pre-shift meetings.
  • Accurately document work and handle material movement and inventory scans.
  • Operate tuggers and other material handling equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement through CI activities.

Job Responsibilities
  • High school degree; or General Educational Development (GED) certification; or equivalent vocational/trade school education in Manufacturing, Production or related field; or related PRODUCTION WORK EXPERIENCE.

Duties
  • Follows Standard Work instructions and Training within Industry (TWI) standards for each workstation.
  • Performs TPM/Daily Care and safety checks per instructions and as assigned.
  • Participates in Preventive Maintenance (PM) and cleaning of equipment/machinery as assigned, e.g., weld tips changes, spool changes, etc.
  • Adheres to 5S organization procedures for each station/area and for the entire plant.
  • Ensures all material is replenished, set-up and in its proper place to prevent and/or eliminate downtime.
  • Ensures Work-in-Progress (WIP) meets quality standards by performing visual and documented inspections on parts as required by the customer. Can describe defects that are being looked for at each station he/she runs.
  • Adheres to the Andon alert process.
  • Attends pre-shift meetings.
  • Ensures documentation is accurate and current.
  • Performs material handling duties: moves and loads/unloads parts either manually or by tugger operation; records incoming/outgoing inspection parts, tags, racks, etc.; operates inventory scanner; cycles material based on FIFO standards, etc.
  • Operates authorized tuggers and other material handling equipment as instructed.
  • Participates in continuous improvement (CI) activities and focuses on solutions to improve productivity and quality by providing suggestions at team meetings; understanding losses and providing ideas and solutions to reduce or eliminate; participating in CI trials or experiments; volunteering on group CI activities, etc.
  • Attends departmental and plant-wide communication meetings as scheduled.
  • Attends training as scheduled.
  • Complies with, supports and models CBAM’s operational procedures/policies, Employee Handbook, and Magna’s Employee’s Charter, Corporate Constitution, and Operational Principles.
  • Complies with relevant Quality and Environmental programs (e.g. ISO 9001/IATF 16949, ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
  • Complies with all Health and Safety programs in accordance with OSHA.
  • Follows and ensures Company procedures regarding safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Conducts themselves in a professional manner.
  • Keeps work area clean and organized.
  • Other duties as required.
