Job summary

The McAlear Group is seeking an hourly manufacturing associate to support production, assembly or preparation of parts to required tolerances per customer orders. This role emphasizes teamwork, safety and quality in a fast-paced plant environment.

Candidates should have high school diploma, reading/writing ability, and the dexterity to operate measuring tools; overtime and rotating shifts may be required. Benefits include 401k, health and life insurance, EAP, disability coverage, and PTO.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in garage door manufacturing is a plus.
  • Ability to read work orders and safety rules.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime if needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble parts per work orders and maintain tolerances.
  • Operate machines safely and perform basic maintenance.
  • Record production quantities and maintain clean work area.
  • Collaborate in a team to improve processes.

Job description

This is an hourly position in the manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the production, assembly, or preparation of products to required tolerances and specifications as dictated by customer orders.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Sufficient reading and writing ability to follow work order instructions, safety rules/regulations and prepare production reports as needed.
  • Follows all safety rules regarding machine operation and proper guarding.
  • Sufficient visual acuity (corrective) to read instructions, distinguish color, operate machines, and visually inspect parts produced.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate machines properly.
  • Operator set up job according to specifications of work order then produces required quantity of parts.
  • Must produce parts within required tolerances and specifications.
  • Responsible for taking care of routine machine maintenance and keeping work area in neat condition.
  • Maintains simple reports on work orders managed and quantities produced.
  • Willingness to share innovative ideas to make processes better.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Works on several types of equipment to conduct a particular phase of the production cycle.
  • Willingness to share innovative ideas to make processes better.
  • May be assigned additional duties/responsibilities as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Physical ability to do work requires frequent twisting, bending, stooping, pulling, pushing, walking, and standing for 8+ hours per day.
  • Frequently performs overhead, next-extended work for extended periods.
  • Physical ability to do work requires repetitive lifting/pulling/carrying weights ranging from 1 to 50 lbs.
  • Physical Ability to work on a production floor that can be above 110 degrees F and humid in the summer.
COMPENTENCY, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work in high-pressure, challenging environment.
  • Ability to learn to use tape measure, calipers, micrometers & propylene/acetylene cutting torches.
  • Ability to operate computers that are part of the manufacturing process.
  • Ability and willingness to cross-train in other production/processing areas
  • For full-time position willingness to work 40 hours per week with possible mandatory/voluntary overtime (for FT position)
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts (if necessary)
  • Ability to change focus frequently.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, inter-department personnel, and other production employees.
  • Strong work ethic and positive attitude
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
PREFERRED:
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Experience in the garage door industry
  • Experience in other manufacturing environments
