Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Lakeland, FL is seeking a manufacturing operator/assistant to support setup and operation of corrugated box production equipment, ensuring output meets customer specs.

You will read factory orders, set stackers, install dies and printing plates, and adjust presses for proper pressure and register. A drug screening will follow conditional offer.

This role requires adherence to safety rules, housekeeping, and ability to work with glue and ink systems.

• Read Factory Order & Print Card to determine proper settings.
• Ensure equipment operates correctly and adjust pressures and registrations.

Job description

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY:

• To assist the Operator and Assistant Operator in the setup & operate, when necessary, any piece of equipment to run a corrugated box to meet customer specifications

SAFETY PROCEDURES:

• Read and understand SAFETY RULES & HOUSEKEEPING GUIDELINES and receive training in proper operating procedures
• Receive instructions in the following.
• Lockout procedures
• Hearing protection
• Safety shoes
• Moving machinery
• All stop buttons
• All nip points
• Lifting and pushing/pulling
• Safety guards, gates & chains

HOUSEKEEPING:

• Perform daily clean-up of area
• Dump trash as needed
• Follow cleaning schedule listed in Safety Manual
• Keep scrap picked up

MANUFACTURING PROCESS:

• Read & use Factory Order & Print Card to determine proper equipment settings

• Ability to know if equipment is operating properly
• Ability to:
  • Set stacker
  • Install dies, attachments & printing plates
  • Set pull rolls, collars & straps
  • Set scores, heads & blade combinations
  • Check stock for correct size
  • Adjust equipment for proper pressures & register
  • Operate glue and ink systems
