Calvert Steel Contracting LLC, a subsidiary of Himes Holdings Inc., seeks workers for steel-processing and general labor at the Ghent, KY NAS site. The role involves long hours on feet in challenging conditions, PPE, and potential overtime.

Some positions require cutting scrap steel and respirator fit testing, with cross-training across company responsibilities. Starting pay is $20-$25 per hour, with benefits beginning after 60 days and additional perks after 60 days.

Responsabilités

• Perform physical demanding general labor and steel-processing duties.
• Operate industrial equipment such as skid steers, forklifts, roll-off trucks, banding machines, excavators, and off-road articulated trucks.
• Learn multiple positions and cross-train throughout the operation.
• Lift, push, pull up to 85 lbs.
• Work scheduled weekends and overtime when required, including Saturdays and Sundays.
• Operate oxygen/magnesium cutting torch for cutting scrap steel (Lancing Operations).
• Maintain a clean-shaven face for respirator seal and pass fit testing and breathing test.
• Perform other duties as needed to support our customers and team.

Starting Pay: $20-$25/hr.

Location: Ghent, KY 41045 (Applicants must currently reside within 30 miles of Ghent, KY.)

Steel-mill work requires strength, reliability, safety awareness, and a strong work ethic. You will work 8+ hours on your feet in hot, cold, wet, dusty, and noisy conditions while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE). This is a demanding physical position. Applicants should carefully consider these requirements before applying.

Job Responsibilities

• Perform physical demanding general labor and steel-processing duties.
• Operate industrial equipment such as skid steers, forklifts, roll-off trucks, banding machines, excavators, and off-road articulated trucks.
• Learn multiple positions and cross-train throughout the operation.
• Lift, push, pull up to 85 lbs.
• Work scheduled weekends and overtime when required, including Saturdays and Sundays.
• Specific to Lancing Operations as follows. Ability to operate an oxygen/magnesium cutting torch, cutting large pieces of scrap steel materials.
• Specific to Lancing Operations. You must maintain a clean-shaven face for filter mask seal. Be fit tested for respirator and pass breathing test. Have Chromium Level testing regularly (blood screening) pre-qualification.
• Perform other duties as needed to support our customers and team.

• Must have the ability to hear and respond to verbal instructions, safety alarms, equipment signals, and other audible warnings in a noisy industrial environment.

Due to steel-mill environment, team members are required to wear significant personal protective equipment (PPE) and complete site-specific safety requirements:

• Metatarsal safety boots.
• Complete required NAS safety training.
• Obtain a NAS site-access badge.
• Valid driver's license required for site access and to operate company machinery.
• Successfully complete respirator fit testing and breathing test. Maintain a clean-shaven face when required for respirator seal.
• Complete required chromium exposure/level testing (blood screening).
• Successfully complete all required site qualifications and training.
• Insurance benefits start the 1 st of the month following 30 days of employment.
• Additional benefits start as soon as the 1 st of the month following 60 days of employment.

• Company provided uniforms, and Safety Boot program (yearly) upon 60 days of employment.
• Hands on training for assigned job duties. (Lancers with appointed company (Lead) Lancer.)

• Company provided site required PPE (1 st day of employment).
• Additional job site training to equip staff for growth as opportunities are available.
