Job summary

Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials is seeking a Production Assistant for our Buffalo, IA plant. You will support the cement manufacturing process by inspecting and operating mobile equipment, performing general labor with basic tools, and ensuring safety and efficiency on the line.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, at least one year in industrial/manufacturing settings, and strong math and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 1 year of industrial, mechanical, or manufacturing experience.
• Strong organizational and math skills.
• Proficient computer literacy.
• Good mechanical aptitude and physical stamina outdoors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends) for 24/7 operations.
• Welding experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and operate mobile equipment and perform general labor with basic tools.
• Provide operational oversight for plant equipment from storage to finish mill.
• Clean and maintain the pre-heater tower riser and ductwork.
• Respond to alarms and emergencies and ensure proper resolution.
• Complete daily operation checklists and environmental compliance logs.
• Monitor and adjust plant equipment and processes; log issues.
• Stay informed of control system changes and coordinate with the control room.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

We are looking for a PRODUCTION ASSISTANT to join our Buffalo, IA plant. As a Production Assistant with Quikrete Heavy Construction Materials you will be responsible to support the cement manufacturing process.

About the Role

Responsibilities

• Inspect and operate mobile equipment; perform general labor using basic hand tools.
• Performs general utility work including pushing up piles of rock and coal with front end loader and other equipment, unplugging belts, and general labor work as directed.
• Provides operational oversight for all plant equipment from the rock storage building through the finish mill operations.
• Cleans the pre-heater tower riser and associated ductwork during the shift.
• Responds to all alarms, equipment issues, and emergencies and assures that they are taken care of appropriately.
• Fills out daily checklist for operations of all plant equipment and for environmental compliance on all operating equipment.
• Keeps abreast of all changes that are made in the control systems while keeping the control room involved and informed of changes.
• Troubleshoots process problems associated with field operations and equipment and may adjust equipment as directed or as dictated by circumstance.
• Monitor, adjust, and support plant equipment and processes.
• Maintain accurate logs, communicate operational issues, and support environmental compliance.
• Other duties may be required and will be assigned as necessary.
