Stonehill College's Theatre Department seeks dependable student Production Assistants to support productions and events. You will work with faculty and student teams on behind‑the‑scenes tasks in a college theatre setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with set construction: build, assemble, install, and strike scenic elements.
• Assist with scenic painting and finishing pieces.
• Build, organize, maintain, and store props.
• Organize, label, maintain, and store costumes and accessories.
• Move and organize scenery, furniture, props, and other production materials.
• Prepare rehearsal and performance spaces.
• Assist with load-in and strike for Theatre Department productions.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized shop, storage, and production areas.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student teams on special projects.
• Perform other theatre production duties as assigned.

Job description

The Theatre Department is seeking dependable and motivated students to work as Production Assistants. Production Assistants provide hands‑on support for Theatre Department productions and events, working with faculty, staff, and student production teams on a variety of behind‑the‑scenes activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in theatre, design, art, construction, or the performing arts to gain practical experience in a college theatre environment. Previous theatre experience is helpful but not required.

Depending on the needs of the production and the student's interests and abilities, duties may include:

• Assisting with set construction, including building, assembling, installing, and striking scenic elements.
• Assisting with scenic painting and finishing scenic pieces.
• Building, organizing, maintaining, and storing props.
• Organizing, labeling, maintaining, and storing costumes and accessories.
• Moving and organizing scenery, furniture, props, costumes, and other production materials.
• Preparing rehearsal and performance spaces.
• Assisting with load-in and strike for Theatre Department productions.
• Maintaining clean, safe, and organized shop, storage, and production areas.
• Assisting faculty, staff, and student production teams with special projects.
• Performing other theatre production-related duties as assigned.
• Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study.
• Dependable, responsible, and willing to learn.
• Able to follow directions and work cooperatively as part of a team.
• Comfortable performing hands‑on and physical tasks.
• Interest in theatre, design, construction, painting, costumes, props, or related areas is encouraged.
• Previous theatre experience is not required.

Work hours will be scheduled around the student's academic schedule and the Theatre Department's production calendar. Additional hours may be available during periods of active production, including load-in and strike.
