Job summary

ModalAI, Inc. is seeking a Production Assembly Technician to build and operate UAVs in a fast-paced environment. You will collaborate with production, operations, and engineering to deliver autonomous drone solutions and support flight testing and payload integration.

Qualifications

• 50+ hours of multi-rotor UAV flight experience.
• Has built multiple UAVs in various configurations (X4, X8, Y3, Y6, Octo, Hex, etc.).
• Experience with soldering and cable assembly.
• Experience gathering and analyzing flight logs to determine system requirements.
• Experience working in a focused, dynamic, fast-paced team environment with accountable deadlines.
• Professional oral and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and effective problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assemble UAVs from the ground up.
• Fly UAVs including but not limited to various configurations.
• Tune PID parameters for flight control.
• Conduct experimental testing of drones and systems.
• Perform endurance testing and data collection.
• Analyze flight logs to extract system requirements.
• Adapt quickly to changing requirements while maintaining tech understanding.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to production workflow.
• Integrate custom payloads (mechanical and electrical) into platforms.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Production Assembly Technician

UAV/UAS Technician & Systems Operator

Our production team builds UAVs every day. We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive technician who loves building and flying drones to join our team in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will work with our production, operations, and engineering teams to deliver industry-leading autonomous solutions that accelerate our customers to autonomy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assembling UAVs from the ground up
• Flying UAVs including but not limited to:
• PID Tuning
• Experimental Testing
• Endurance Testing
• Analyzing Flight Logs
• Ability to pivot and adjust quickly to changing requirements while maintaining an understanding of the technology as it changes
• Researching, evaluating, and recommending solutions and technologies to improve production workflow
• Integrating custom payloads including both mechanical and electrical integrations

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• 50+ hours of multi-rotor UAV flight experience
• Has built multiple different UAVs in various configurations (X4, X8, Y3, Y6, Octo, Hex, etc.)
• Experience with Soldering and cable assembly
