Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. is seeking a production supervisor to develop, schedule and implement work activities for the manufacturing and assembly area in a 2nd shift (3 pm–12:30 am).

You will coordinate day-to-day production processes, supervise personnel, and optimize product flow through the production phase. The role requires a bachelor’s degree and extensive production/assembly knowledge, with the ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 9+ years of related experience; equivalent experience considered.
  • Extensive technical understanding of production and assembly concepts; able to organize, schedule and coordinate workloads to meet milestones.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises assemblers and technicians across locations, guiding and coaching manufacturing personnel.
  • Oversees design and building of tooling for the production process.
  • Examines defective equipment, reports repairs, and supports engineering with design/documentation issues.
  • Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine materials, operations, and sequence of steps; monitors material usage and tooling needs.
  • Formulates plans and schedules for the section; seeks methods to improve quality, repeatability and efficiency.
  • Implements production method changes and supports field upgrades and operations.
  • Interacts with vendors, sales reps, planning, and quality assurance to stay current on products and services.
  • Participates in hiring, promotion, and training of subordinates; assigns and reviews work.

Job Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a world leader in proven, reliable remotely piloted aircraft and tactical reconnaissance radars, as well as advanced high-resolution surveillance systems.

This position develops, schedules and implements work activities for the manufacturing and assembly area. Coordinates day to day activities of the production process, including personnel supervision, work assignments, and coordination of the product flow through the production phase. Requires complete familiarity with and understanding of the general aspects and technical phases of the job. Interprets and executes policies and procedures and recommends modifications to operating policies.

This is a 2nd shift position with a schedule of 3 pm to 12:30 am.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervises assemblers and technicians in various locations through all phases of production in accordance with established schedules. Offers guidance and coaching to manufacturing personnel.
  • Oversees the design and building of tooling needed for the production process.
  • Examines defective equipment to determine cause of malfunction and reports need for repairs. Assists test department with expeditious turnaround of repairs as required. Assists engineering staff to resolve design and documentation issues. Interfaces with planning personnel in the generation of process flows, as well as with quality assurance personnel.
  • Analyzes work orders and blueprints to determine information such as material to be used, type of operations, and sequence of operations required. Monitors usage and supply of all production materials and tooling; reorders when necessary. Interfaces with production control to help prevent material and equipment shortages.
  • Formulates and recommends plans, policies, procedures and schedules for the section. Seeks methods to improve product quality, repeatability and efficiency. Schedules and coordinates work assignments. Ensures accurate time charging. Inspects work in progress and finished products.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of product. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the departments.
  • Implements configuration changes in the product and supports field upgrades and operations.
  • May interface with outside vendors and sales representatives to stay current on new products and services. May interface with customers to answer questions relating to the product.
  • Participates in hiring, promoting, and training subordinate employees. Assigns, directs and reviews their work.
  • Responsible for observing all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.
  • Expected to work and lead the workplace in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Additional Functions Other duties as assigned or required.

Job Qualifications
  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and nine or more years of progressive professional experience in a related technical field. May substitute equivalent experience in lieu of education.
  • Must demonstrate an extensive technical understanding of production and assembly concepts and practices, with the ability to organize, schedule, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet established milestones.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance is required.

  • The ability to work extended hours and travel is required.

Job Type: Full-Time Salary

Salary range: 66,940 - 116,965
