Job summary

Ultralife Corporation in Houston, TX is seeking a Production Associate to support assembly of cells, cables and electrical components into battery packs and related assemblies. You will follow assembly instructions, read BOMs, and maintain documentation of materials used, while adhering to 5S and ISO quality standards.

The role requires high school diploma or equivalent, 1–2 years in a production environment, basic math, and attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• 1-2 years experience in production environment preferred.
• Soldering experience preferred
• Experience reading wiring schematics and understanding assembly instructions
• Good written and oral understanding of the English language
• Ability to remain focused on repetitive tasks with strong attention to detail
• High level of initiative and strong work ethic
• Basic Math skills (counting, adding, and subtracting)

Responsibilities

• Assembles products per instructions, drawings or BOM.
• Checks dimensions with gauges per procedures.
• Follows safety guidelines to maintain a safe workplace.
• Reads BOM, traveler, assembly instructions, drawings and/or work instructions to determine materials.
• Uses hand tools for assembly tasks.
• Performs intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, and labeling.
• Visual and manual inspection for defects.
• Maintains clean, organized work area per 5S policy.
• Supports speed of production while maintaining quality and design integrity.
• Complies with ISO quality standards in all processes.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position supports the production process throughout various stages while ensuring quality standards are met or exceeded and will perform assembly operations to manufacture cells, cables and electrical components into battery packs, cable, and mechanical assemblies based on specific assembly instructions. This position will maintain accurate records of assembly time and materials used, follow standard work methods, and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Work according to assembly instructions and or drawings or verbal instructions to effectively perform assembly duties of each product within the department.
• Check products and or component dimensions with various gauges as described in procedures or work instructions.
• Following all safety guidelines and processes to ensure a safe workplace for all.
• Reads instructions such as BOM, traveler, assembly instructions, drawings and/or work instructions to determine materials needed and specific requirements of each assembly.
• Use mechanical assembly techniques with common hand tool such as drivers, drill, cutters, and strippers.
• Perform intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, and labeling and ink jetting assemblies.
• Visually and manually check for defects in product or workmanship.
• Maintain clean and orderly work area utilizing the 5S policy in all aspects of processes, procedures and daily activities.
• Understands the importance of speed of production to increase efficiency without sacrificing quality or integrity of design.
• In all processes and functions, comply with work instructions and procedures to ensure manufacture of finish products, which conform to ISO quality standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of the job, is frequently required to sit for long periods. Occasionally is required to stand. The employee must be able to lift 10 pounds, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
