Job summary

Peraton Labs is seeking an AI/ML Engineer to support AI-enabled products and capabilities for the FAA BNATCS Program, based in Herndon, VA. This role focuses on building practical software systems that apply AI/ML techniques in mission-relevant ways and hands-on engineering execution.

You will design, develop, and integrate AI solutions, including LLMs and model-driven services, collaborating across teams to mature prototypes into durable capabilities for mission delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 5+ years of relevant experience for Bachelor's track
• Master's degree preferred with 3+ years of experience or PhD with applied AI/ML experience
• Strong Python software development experience
• Experience integrating LLMs at the API level and with AI/ML patterns

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain AI/ML enabled applications and software components
• Develop production-oriented software in Python and other languages as needed
• Integrate LLMs, AI APIs, and model-driven services into practical tools, workflows, and user-facing capabilities
• Collaborate with internal Labs teams to transition concepts and prototypes into reliable technical solutions
• Support Agentic AI workflows, intelligent orchestration patterns, and AI-enabled mission applications
• Write clean, maintainable, extensible code and participate in engineering tradeoffs and architecture discussions
