  • Familiarity with guild agreements, residuals, and the production accounting lifecycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Cost Reporting: Prepare, maintain, and deliver accurate production cost reports with current spend visibility.
  • Vendor Payments: Process and manage vendor invoices and payments, ensuring timely and properly coded disbursements.
  • Residual Payments: Oversee calculation, processing, and tracking of residuals per guild agreements and contractual obligations.
  • Internal & External Liaison: Serve as financial point of contact between internal teams and external partners.
  • Budget Tracking & Variance Analysis: Monitor budgets vs. actuals and explain variances to leadership.
  • Process & Documentation: Establish financial workflows and documentation across productions.

Job description

Are you an experienced production accountant ready to bring your expertise to a dynamic entertainment company?A leading entertainment company based in Los Angeles is seeking a Production Accountant to support a fast-moving and creative environment where financial precision meets the world of film and television. This is a hands-on role with real cross-functional visibility where you'll serve as a key liaison between internal teams and external partners, keeping the financial engine behind production running smoothly and accurately. This position is fully remote, working PT hours.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Reporting: Prepare, maintain, and deliver accurate and timely production cost reports, ensuring leadership has clear and current visibility into project spend at every stage of production.
  • Vendor Payments: Process and manage vendor invoices and payments, ensuring all disbursements are properly coded, approved, documented, and paid on schedule.
  • Residual Payments: Oversee the calculation, processing, and tracking of residual payments in accordance with applicable guild agreements and contractual obligations.
  • Internal & External Liaison: Serve as the primary financial point of contact between internal production teams and external partners including studios, vendors, guilds, and payroll services, keeping all parties aligned and informed.
  • Budget Tracking & Variance Analysis: Monitor production budgets against actuals, flag variances early, and provide clear explanations and recommendations to production leadership.
  • Process & Documentation: Establish and maintain clear financial workflows and documentation practices that support consistency and accountability across all active productions.
What We're Looking For
  • Experience: 5+ years of production accounting experience within film and/or television required. Familiarity with guild agreements, residuals, and the full production accounting lifecycle is essential. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Strong command of production accounting software and tools. Proficiency in Excel and comfort navigating multiple systems and platforms. Experience with cost reporting and budget management at the production level required.
